Those with MTX 9500 Experience

I was helping out on my Grand Prix forum and this guy was talking about the MTX 9500. He proceeded to tell everyone that they are far better than a W7 and have never had a negative warranty claim against them since they were introduced. I dont care about JL or MTX, but personally had a 9500 12 that had a bad voice coil. When it worked it sounded good, but I have read on here of other issues with them IIRC. I am just trying to get some background.

that is one of the most asinine statements ive seen made there is no such thing as a product that is mass produced never having a manufacturer defect and even if they didnt how the hell would the person making said statement know? unless they work in miteks warranty dept and can recall off the top of their head every warranty claim mtx has had in the past 3 years?

Which I'm sure is more than most companies. I used to swear by MTX but they have really went down hill in the last few years.

yeah i know a guy who put two 9500's in his car. They sounded like crap and were'nt loud at all. Its probably because hes an idiot and set his amp and/or HU wrong. they were sealed also. so all in all it was user error but i didnt really see too much potential either. they seemed.."cheap"

The 9500's can get decently loud as long as you feed them above 800 watts each. Anything more than 1200, they don't like much. A little sweet spot, if you will.

And as for not having a claim against them, that's funny since I've personally seen one go in for a fix. Coil was misaligned and scraped anything above about 2mm in or out of the gap.

W7 > 9500 in all respects, IMO.
