Those of you with Polk SR6500s

Do they come in some sort of fancy box?
If so, do you have a picture?

If its just a normal cardboard box with Styrofoam forget it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Nothing fancy like a briefcase that kicker ss's come in or anything. Just cardboard. Your not looking for speakers based on the box they come in are you?

If you are looking for an incredible component set you have found it, I would really not worry about the box because those things sound amazing. And no they do not come in a fancy box. They put their effort into the speaker and especially into the crossover networks. Just buy them. If you need pricing let me know.

Those aren't my pics but are pics from the FS thread where I purchased my set.

Its all cardboard and such but I wouldn't call it cheap or simple. Everything is packaged very well and totally isolated from everything else and is no moving anywhere.

I love the sound I get from them but in a way I must be spoiled since this is my first set of components and don't have much to compare them too. They do sure sound sweet though, and even in undeadened and non sealed doors.

Crossovers are huge though, don't under estimate this. Most likely too big to be putting in a door but could be done. Sadly one of mine seems to be busted so I am running active (not a bad thing) just a shame to not be using such an incredible piece of equipment.

Oh and the 9887 you sold me is working great and is nice to run these speakers active from.

hah, no way man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I just read a snippet somewhere that led me to believe they came in a really fancy wooden case. I guess it could have been sarcasm. I don't even remember where I read it now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So I have read. I've heard nothing but great things about these speakers. Once I get my next vehicle that's what's going in. Along with the SR sub and the new PA Amps.

I have access to dealer pricing, so I highly doubt the prices can be beat, however, thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Heh, I've seen comparison pictures of the crossovers to books and things. They're insane. That's okay though, I've got a great spot for 'em //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Glad its working out for you. You have a killer memory, there's no way I would have recognized your s/n and remembered I sold ya anything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yea they certainly are insane, I bet both of them with some room for wiring and such would be roughly the same space as my Sundown 100.4 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif I had a good spot for them but currently they are removed since one needs to be repaired.

Yea I got a pretty decent memory, but at the same time I usually gotta think about how old I am or forget the short term appointments and dates for things lol.

Can any one give me some opinions on the quality of these speakers ? how do they perform?
Sadly I don't have too much experience with other speakers short of the 5.25" Infinity Coaxials I had before these.

However these are most certainly sweet speakers. I have yet to find a down side to them at all. Build quality seems to be absolute top notch. Highs are great and not harsh or piercing, I can listen to them at top volume (about 20-24 on my Alpine) for a few hours with all sorts of music and have no problems at all. Maybe I am listening a lot harder now than before but I am noticing a lot more background voices/noises/things in songs now. Not sure how much power they would take in total but they are taking all of my 100.4 being run active.

I don't have subs yet in my truck and sadly my doors aren't deadened/sealed yet but I can feel the speakers and on some songs have revealed a few rattles in the doors. The few times I have played rap there is certainly some bass coming from them, nothing that you feel but sounds nice and solid. I think I have them crossed down to 63hz right now and could probably go down to around 50hz without a problem. Tweeters as far as I have read and can tell from listening should be mounted in an on axis position though. Off axis in my truck (a-pillars) gave a bit better imaging but was lacking on the utmost highs and detail.

Can't think of much more to say about them, I am still working on tuning everything crossovers are very conservative now with them being low at 63hz and then at 4k both with 18db slopes, a little time alignment for my positioning and no EQing so far as well as no deadening. My center imaging seems to wander a little bit but height is great and width seems great as well, sometimes sounds like the vocals are coming from the top of the windshield. Not sure how well the subs will blend in or vise versa or how well they will keep up with the substage but I will hopefully know that within a month or so.

And as Justin said do some research, I did tons of hunting and reading before buying these. I have yet to ever read anything but praises about them. They don't seem to get as much talk as other comps or DIY drivers but seems there is nothing bad ever said about them. I am thinking their price might be what keeps them sort of on the down-low. Sometimes I feel jipped that I don't get to experience other speakers and have more of an appreciation for how good these are but then I slap myself for thinking of swapping them out, unless maybe I can fit in a nice Hybrid 3-way setup one day in the future.
