Heh, I've seen comparison pictures of the crossovers to books and things. They're insane. That's okay though, I've got a great spot for 'em //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Glad its working out for you. You have a killer memory, there's no way I would have recognized your s/n and remembered I sold ya anything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Yea they certainly are insane, I bet both of them with some room for wiring and such would be roughly the same space as my Sundown 100.4 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif I had a good spot for them but currently they are removed since one needs to be repaired.
Yea I got a pretty decent memory, but at the same time I usually gotta think about how old I am or forget the short term appointments and dates for things lol.
Can any one give me some opinions on the quality of these speakers ? how do they perform?
Sadly I don't have too much experience with other speakers short of the 5.25" Infinity Coaxials I had before these.
However these are most certainly sweet speakers. I have yet to find a down side to them at all. Build quality seems to be absolute top notch. Highs are great and not harsh or piercing, I can listen to them at top volume (about 20-24 on my Alpine) for a few hours with all sorts of music and have no problems at all. Maybe I am listening a lot harder now than before but I am noticing a lot more background voices/noises/things in songs now. Not sure how much power they would take in total but they are taking all of my 100.4 being run active.
I don't have subs yet in my truck and sadly my doors aren't deadened/sealed yet but I can feel the speakers and on some songs have revealed a few rattles in the doors. The few times I have played rap there is certainly some bass coming from them, nothing that you feel but sounds nice and solid. I think I have them crossed down to 63hz right now and could probably go down to around 50hz without a problem. Tweeters as far as I have read and can tell from listening should be mounted in an on axis position though. Off axis in my truck (a-pillars) gave a bit better imaging but was lacking on the utmost highs and detail.
Can't think of much more to say about them, I am still working on tuning everything crossovers are very conservative now with them being low at 63hz and then at 4k both with 18db slopes, a little time alignment for my positioning and no EQing so far as well as no deadening. My center imaging seems to wander a little bit but height is great and width seems great as well, sometimes sounds like the vocals are coming from the top of the windshield. Not sure how well the subs will blend in or vise versa or how well they will keep up with the substage but I will hopefully know that within a month or so.
And as Justin said do some research, I did tons of hunting and reading before buying these. I have yet to ever read anything but praises about them. They don't seem to get as much talk as other comps or DIY drivers but seems there is nothing bad ever said about them. I am thinking their price might be what keeps them sort of on the down-low. Sometimes I feel jipped that I don't get to experience other speakers and have more of an appreciation for how good these are but then I slap myself for thinking of swapping them out, unless maybe I can fit in a nice Hybrid 3-way setup one day in the future.
