BTW, I am posting these pics so that you can good an idea what these products look like, both inside and outside, in real life in case you are interested in them and cannot find a dealer. Unfortunately there are no Zapco or DLS dealers anywhere near me that stock the products...so I had to buy on reputation and pictures alone. Hope it helps!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

As far as deadening my car, this what I have used:

eDead - I have about 80 ft^2 as the first layer throughout the car including the door, the outer door skins, the door panel and on the floor in the hatch. I used original stuff that is absoulute garbage IMO. The butyl based stuff that they sell now might be ok, but the original crap is inferior to the roofing repair tape that you can get at Home Depot for $.65/ft^2.

Polymetric mastic dampening sheets from McMaster-Carr - I have 24 ft^2 on the rear seat floor to help control sound and vibration of my exhaust. This stuff is pretty thick and it does not conform to irregular surfaces very well. It is used for wrapping pipes and ducts to prevent vibration.

Synthetic carpet padding/jute - I have about 150 ft^2 from the firewall all the way back to the rear bumper on the floor and in the wheel wells. This is not the typical carpet padding you have in your house. They don't use it much anymore and it is hard to find. The nice thing is that it will not rot and stink if it gets wet. It provides needed acoustical dampening because my car has not cats - so it get's loud when I get on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Second Skin Spectrum Sludge - 1/2 gallon worth spread out over two layers of the door and the door panel. Not the easiest to work with as you have to wait for it to dry. Once it's on, it's on! All around good stuff as it can get right in the cracks where you need it.

Dynamat Extreme - 20 ft^2 total with one layer on the door and one on the door panel. This is the top layer you see in the pics. Nice stuff to work with. It's pretty thick, heavy, and goes on very well.

Second Skin OverKill - I've used about 10 ft^2 so far. Some on the outer door skins and some over the access holes to reduce the noise coming through.

Non-hardening modeling clay - This was smashed in around the baffle to prevent it from resonating. I got a packet of the kid's stuff at that Joanne Fabrics store.

Egg crate shaped 100% waterproof closed-cell foam (camping pad from Walmart) - I used a couple of square feet of it that I glued to the OverKill directly behind the speakers in the doors. This works like a deflex pad to prevent standing waves in the door.

also curious about your tweet install. is it gonna be permanently like that or you gonna drill in the a-pillars?
Temporary until I try something else or decide to go three way with them and the midranges in kicks. Permanent?...I'm not sure what word even means //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Why don't you like getto fab install?

lol i have absolutely no problem at all? see my install? i have double sided tape to hold down my hinged tweeter mounts on my dash.

and yes i don't think permanent and car audio should spoken at the same time from mouth.

I've had a few PM's on my door deading so I thought I'd post a follow up.

If you guys need a place for a lot of this stuff that is relatively cheap, go to www.mcmaster.com They sell the acoustical foam, sound deadening, vibration control materials, and all sorts of cool stuff.

I have no particular allegiance to any company or brand (unless they want to sponsor me [hint!!]//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) so I just use the most cost effective stuff I know of that works. The best product comparison I have ever seen is at www.sounddeadenershowdown.com

Also, for those of you in colder climates, make sure you get something that is heavy and sticky because glue and frozen steel don't match up very well. That is why I chose Sludge because it won't fall off.

Here is my experience with eDead (I'm talking specifically about the original asphalt based peal n seal):

I put 2 layers of roofing repair tape that I got at Home Depot on my god forsaken heat shield last fall...yes underneath my car....and it is still going strong to this day - all winter long!! Keep in mind that this no more than a foot from the ground at all times, so it takes some abuse as it just gets caked with snow and salt and has survived the bitter cold temperatures down to -20 and the extreme heat from the midpipe which is like 3" away!!!

Now everytime I open my doors in the spring the f'ing eDead has started to fall off and is litterally just kind of hanging there. It sticks about as well as your *** going down a Slip 'n Slide!! I would take pics, but it is totally covered in SS Sludge.

This is Don's conclusion after all his testing and product comparison at sounddeadenershowdown:

If you really need to do this in the absolutely least expensive way and are not convinced or concerned by the demonstrated inferiority of asphalt based sound deadeners, go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a roll or two of Peel & Seal. This is the least expensive option and you won't have to worry about shipping costs. I can see no difference in Peel & Seal and the asphalt based aluminum skinned products in this review. If you are going to live dangerously, do it right.

So true, and that's why I say sistema sempre cambiare = system always changing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Nice looking setup you got there Fox! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif
