OK. here is my situation.

Last November I had a Nissan Versa, well 2 Nissan Versa, the wife had one to. I am a car nut and driving the beer can for two your ******. We traded in a Trail blazer when the gas prices went nuts a few years back. The wife handles all the finances cause when I get deployed she know what to do and I really **** at managing money( I will man up and admit that ).

Back to last November... I finally had enough and a Toyota dealer down the street was having a deal so I went and bought a scion tc. That was the cheapest car that I liked so I figured she wouldnt be as pissed as if I came home with a 3 series or a 370Z.

It turns out she was just as pissed. So to make it up to here we got a 2011 Rav4 limited, she had a 2002 limited when we got married back in 02 that she loved.

OK. If your still with me this is the fun part!

Since last December I have spent about $3000 on my car that she doesnt know about. When I say she hates that car my words can not express it enough. She also hates loud music!

For the equipment such as the subs and amp that you can see, I told her I hooked somebody up at work and the gave them to me( I know that was dumb ).

She is a huge penny pincher and I dont blame her, when we first got married we had to bounce checks to get food.

I mean I can go out and get $200 jeans but I cant get a cold air intake for the ride. I know its not going to add value to the car!

I know she doesnt want to go back to being broke but we got a six figure income, own a home, and dont have kids. Can we just enjoy life a little. She said once the house is done, new floors, back splash, finsh the crown molding She will back off but I dont belive it. I like what she has done with the crip but its only a year old. We got 20 years to finish it!

Long story short,,

I need a battery for the trunk! And a amp rack!

sounds llike what i went threw. i was in a bad car accident a few years back.my girl new i was in to music befor we started to date. i got my car i got a 1200 cat back for 500 put on and it allmost cuzed us to brake up. i had to pretty much beg to spend MY money on a sub/amp/battery where talking like 700 OF MY MONEY. i got a short ram intake after having my car for a year and that was a pain in the a ss to get. some girls will get on you cuz they dont understand subs costing 200+ and sh it. my girl has said well it will just sit in your car u cant play with it u cant do anything with your car audio. so i got back in to playing the gutiar and im starting to spend money on my recording studio.

I dont think so. I wouldnt a half the stuff I do now If it wasnt for her. I would be in jail or living under a bridge.

And its nice to know you can go on a 7 month deployment and she is right there waiting for you with a new flat screen.

She is pure Puerto Rican so she will get spicey.

Thats a hard thing to find in a navy wife, I hear to many horror stories.

Guys coming home and the house is sold and bank drained!

So its kind of a toss up.

dont feel bad i to have said hey i got this for cheap or i got it from some one at work. i would wait for my pay check to go in to my bank acc and i would order stuff and plan out when they would ship it so she would not b over or she would b at work when ups would come. i would have fedex come cuz they come in the morrings where i live and she would b at work. i had to have a plan to spend my OWN MONEY.

This man, you really aught to talk to her about it. Communication is key. Dont lie to her either, that will come back round to bite you, it always does. Im serious though. Tell her that you like doing stereos and that its youre hobby. Come to an agreement, I am sure she buys purses and clothes and lady stuff. This is your side of that. You did say you were poor at managing money too though. See if you can talk to her about fitting stereo in the budget. If you guys cant come to a peaceful agreement then you aught to just buy it and let her get over it, try not to let things escalate, if she gets mad dont retort, just tell her its what makes you happy.

I was the same way on this last build.

I was out of the hobby since I went to boot camp back in 02, so she didnt know I liked car audio to begin with. Last december I got that wild hair and bought a sub/amp combo that was pretty sucky and it got expensive from then on

yea where the same person . im in to nitro rc and i get in to the hobby for a few months i would spend like 800.00 sell all it off on craigs list then get in to car audio. then buy anew guitar.

I 100% agree. I have to earn her trust back because of all the dumb stuff I have done over the years. I'm about to go on a 7 month cruise and last time I did one I spent a couple grand on nothing. I cant do that again. I have quit drinking for 2 years and smoking so I should be able to put some nice change up

yeah man you just need to tell her..hey i make my money i should be able to spend it on whatever i want as long as bills are paid and theres food in your stomache what can she say? sounds like she thinks her hobbies/interest are more important than yours to me... like fixing up the house is her thing apparently so what makes spending money on that any different from a car? not much..its all for your own enjoyment and what you like.
