This or that... Xcon or Treo SSi... Help

Thanks KR15. Never really hear any bad about the SSi's. It has been my favorite sub I ever owned too. I think my mind is made up. Not alot of interest in the XCON I put up for sale in the classifieds.

I had a dual 4 treo ssi 12" and it is also my favorite sub that I have had to date. Tuned the box at 28hz and absolutely loved how it got low. I owned a 15" for a while but never got to hook it up so you need to use yours so I can live vicariously through you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

How about you sell the 15 and use the money towards an alpine m2000 and another xcon I'm sure that would murder the 15 in a box about the same size required for the 15
He had 2 xcons sold 1 kept the other, Rock I am suprised you still have the one the market for used audio is crap at the moment..

I have not used the SSi to specifically speak on it, all I have at the moment is to go by what I can find on the web at TREOs website. I am surprised these two are being compared, as Xmax / cone size / power handling / etc. etc. are all somewhat different, showing that these two sub woofers not really meant to go heads up against each other. Yes, power ratting yadda yadda is not much to go on, but it is one of many things to show how different these sub woofers are. Does anyone know if the specs TREO lists for Xmax is P2P or one way, as I am curious about a true 27mm one way, being attainable with the 4 spoke as the Xcon with 31mm is right at the limit of the 12 spoke which has more clearance then the 4 spoke the last time I checked. Yes, the TREO has the cone size advantage, but from what I can see, that is where the advantages end. The Xcon is the newer design and incorporates a shorting ring to help lower inductance. As for classifieds, a much larger, much older brand is always going to get more attention then SSA as far more people know who TREO is, then SSA simple as that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Denim,

Thanks for your input. It is great that you as here to answer questions.

On the SSA site a recommened optimal range is listed of 2.5 to 2.75 cu ft for ported boxes. Can you tell me how the Xcon performs differently in the 2.75 cu. Ft. Box. Will it play louder? Why would be the benefit of a larger box?

Thanks

I would really lIke to try the XCON ported.

How about this, I have 49" w x 16" h x 15" d I'm willing to give up in the cargo area of the Tahoe. Can someone tell me how big of a box and what way to fire the sub and port to make it mash and get down.

We, as well as a few other smaller brands, provide a range of enclosure sizes that the particular sub woofer will work very well in. For the most part, the larger enclosure size is really meant for those who can #1 fit it, and #2 want a little more efficiency. The over all response curve will be a little bit flatter, but in many installs it will be hard to tell at higher levels of output.

That is approx 6.75 (someone correct my quick math if need be) cubes, before accounting for material thickness, port and driver displacement.
