This or that... Xcon or Treo SSi... Help

Currently in my closet I have a 12" SSA XCON and a Brand new 15" Treo SSi. I bought the Treo SSi cause I had it years ago and loved it.

I'm having a hard time deciding which one to run and need you help.

The more and more I read I see people commenting on how the box build and placement of sub and port play a huge role in how the woofer sounds.

So my car is a 2-door Chevy Tahoe, but I want to retain as much cargo space as I can. I plan on using a PDX 1.1000 for power so I will have about 1100 watts at 2 or 4 ohms. (The Xcon is D1 and SSi is D2).

Can the right enclosure make the 12" Xcon equally as loud as a 15" Treo SSi? Or no matter what the enclosure is the bigger woofer will always win out?

How big of enclosure would I need for the 12" to preform to its peak level and would I be nuts to not use the 15" woofer?

I welcome your thoughts and questions.

Thanks

If I go with the 12" I would build my box just like yours. If I choose the 15 I would go with sub back, port back.

Just trying to find out if anyone has a though if a 12" woofer in a sub up port back alignment could do what 15" can in a sub back, port back alignment.

had 2x ssi 12's, wanted something smaller and got loud. got a single 15 ssi slightly modified to handle the extra power.

only experience ive had with ssa is the icon, but i would go with the treo.

yes. it was a 10. it was old, the spider separated from the basket, mod it into what you see now.

so i guess its not exactly a true ssi, i guess if i wasnt sending it twice the rated power lol. but now with the same motor sound freaking awesome.

side by side, the ssi 10 owned the icon. but im sure msrp wise the treo is more pricy. but we're talking about an xcon... so i dunno, up to you.

I had an ssi15 and it was my fave sub I ever owned. It wasnt an spl sub by any means, but got plenty loud and loved crushing out lows. If u go with the Treo, tune around 28-30... The xcon is a nice sub as well. Pretty similar actually, can get somewhat loud, play low and sound very clean. I say go Treo, mainly because of the cone area, but even the xcon will perform pretty well if u go that route
