Ok, since the time for my build is closing in, I have two more things to buy. Question is, which one first. First item on the list an a HO alternator. I know I will need it eventually, but I am hoping that I can put it off by doing the big three and having a HC2400 in the trunk. I am doing all 1/0 wire so current shouldn't be a big deal.

Second item is sound deadener. I know it will be a must also. This is the cheaper of the two, because I am going to just get regular damplifier until I can get back home and pick up the rest of what I have, which I would have needed to get more anyways since I am doing trunk and doors, and possibly the trunk in more than one layer.

The question I pose is, which one can I put off first? I am leaning towards sound deadener.

To give you an idea what I am running is a RE XXX 15 in the trunk off of a RD 3250.1 at 1 ohm, so 3k RMS.

i use a stock alt, the problem with HO alts is they need a higher rpm to make the extra amps, so at idle, you dont gain anything with an alt.

SPL, then Alt 1st

if you are going for some SQ then the deadner 1st

Well what I plan on doing is keeping it down for the most part just keep it to a nice listening level. Then when someone tries to be funny and be loud, I turn it up and play full tilt then.

I have the same car. If you wind up going with the deadener, i found that two rolls of raamat worked perfectly. Double and tripled layered most of my trunk and rear deck and still had 25sq ft left or so. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if it were me, id get the HO alt and be done with it so dont have to worry about any voltage problems. worry about sound deadening later.

I should have made a poll for this *****. The reason I am worried about the sound deadener is that that much pressure back there, I do not want to damage anything too bad, although I doubt with or without it's going to matter too much. So now though the HO alt is sounding better.

In all honestly you should be alright. I'm running a 18 btl off a sundown 3k at 1 ohm. I'd say we'd be in the same ballpark with pressure, and with the amount of deadener i have in my trunk/rear deck area, i have no vibrations at all. The bass itself has actually only caused sunroof problems and the death of my rear view mirror, so id be watchful for that

But yes, i agree it seems that the HO alt would prove to be the better buy at the moment.

you not getting to bad of voltage drop with out HO alt with the sundown 3k?also how big is your box?
