Steve Meade would be another good example. Will show you his SPL reading at a low frequency and impress the hell out of everyone. Does he give a shit about a contest. NO he wangs it all day and people remember him. He is helping save our sport. Don't be confused. SPL almost killed our sport. When people go to a show that want to hear chit WANG. Not watch stuff charge that can't play music cuz they have no mids and can't play w/ the door open. I care about having insanely loud BASS that is crystal clear while playing music. Seems to make for a good demo and get people interested about the sport.

Without SPL, car audio really isn't a "sport". SPL comps haven't made any fewer people want systems. The only sport SPL is killing is the sport of SPL.

although i agree about numbers being somewhat useless in a daily driver, i dont see how SPL competitions have killed anything.

If anything, SPL comp's will help keep the sport of car stereos organized and keep people from bumping around their neighborhoods.

I agree, I call it a sport simply in jest. Being the athletic professional foosball player that I am - I know what its like to be a top competitor in a real sport!

For awhile when people turned to SPL Drag newbies visting a car stereo comp for the first time were not able to hear the "loudest" cars in the world cuz they could not play music. Had they been able to play music would have generated more interest in people building a Steve Meade type of system.. All respect to Steve and people like him. This is the basic reason for my views on SPL having damaged the sport/competition

Bottom line is If everyone invoved in SPL drag had taken a S. Meade style approach. The comps and people obsessed with car audio would be much larger than it is today. IMHO

It relates to this. I am in fact a professional foosball player. The "sport" is very small. In the 70s it was huge and first place at a comp could win as high as two Porshe's (the cars) Had the electronic revolution not came around via pac-man, donkey kong, etc, etc, there would be more foosers of today. BUT people who would have learned to play as a top competitor may have never even touched a foosball table cuz they played video games instead.

I agree with him... If you have an SPL daily car... what is the fun of driving around playing BASS cause its not music,,,,your literally just driving around listening to bass notes.... Why not build a car that you can barely drive to the testing line cause there is so much weight in the car, and go all out...

What is the sence of spending thousands and thousands of dollars on a DAILY car, just for the 4-5 comps MOST of us will attend in a year to burp for a few seconds.... why not add some nice speakers so you can actually hear some nice music while lsitening to these beasts

The funny thing is and probably a topic by itself is people learn about Fi. They go on the site - read up - and start leaning towards the BL and the BTL. The subs that most should be choosing between is the SSD and the Q. Most are not going to have the power to push a BTL correct and can have "better" systems w/ multiple drivers. The SSD is oone of the best woofers in the world IMO and people must look at that and figure since its the least expensive it must not do what they want. SSDs could easily set records as the best sounding LOUDEST vehicle in the world. For some reason everyone wants a BTL and they don't even have warranty. PEOPLE look at the SSDS. There is nothing entry level about a 800rms sub
