This is probably bad timing, but.....

After reading through much of Mikes thread regarding amplifier repair, I'm reluctant to post this. But, here goes....

I am a veteran electronics technician. My specialty is professional/commercial sound and lighting. I am the lead technician at a local shop where I have been for 21 years.

I worked for a local consumer audio service center from about 2000-2005 as their audio repair specialist. Since I left, they no longer take in car audio for service.

Due to some recent health problems in my family I have been compelled to find some side jobs to help pay the bills. Since I don't want to step on my current employers toes, I've decided to take on some car amplifier repairs. I work out of my house on nights and weekends when I have the time. If anyone in the Minneapolis area has an amp in need of repair, send me an email with the details and I'll let you know what I can do. I charge very reasonable rates and will not charge a dime if I can't fix your amp.

I'm not too far away, if I blow mine up you'll be the first I go to (mainly cause you're so close).

I received a Associates Degree in Electronics Technology in 1989 from Northwestern Electronics Institute in Minneapolis, MN (now part of Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis).

I'm new to this forum, but I did take a look at one user's amp last week. A Crossfire VR2000D that had a hole burned through the board so I wasn't able to repair it. Unfortunately I don't know his username, but he'll probably see this post and reply. Other than that, I've repaired a few amps from some guys responding to my ad on craigs list. I can't remember all of them, but I've just finished a Hifonics Brutus and Titan, a RF punch P5002 (for sale in amplifier classifieds right now), RF BD1000.1, Kenwood KAC-X542 (he sent it to Kenwood twice and they never found the issue. Took me about an hour). I've only just started up with car amp repair in the last couple months, so I don't have that many repairs under my belt yet. Anyway, I'm a 40 year old family man and I didn't get where I am by screwing people. Thats about all I can say.

Thanks

I do home audio too. Receivers, amps, cassette decks (if anyone still uses them), solid state or vintage/tube. I just won't work on any professional stuff. It would be a conflict of interest with my employer.
