Sony made a lot of these square speakers back in the 1980s. The square cone design isn't a strict patent or anything, the hard part is getting the suspension to work properly and a cone that won't fold.

As far as copying amps... yeah there's a lot of similar designs out there but if it's just the exterior then I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Those knockoff generic brands(like Pyramid, MTS, Rockwood) copied MTX, Kenwood and Pioneer's cosmetic designs but you know they're still shit.

Ummm... I don't even get why anyone would want to copy Hifonics' amps? I mean Lanzar has the Opti series that perform pretty darn good so why not just base all there lower end models on the Optis?

Opti's are better than most of Hifonics lines. The newer Lanzar Max amps also look like the new HiFi amps as well. Cosmetically, I dont really see biting a design as a big deal. Id be more worried about internals. But I understand why it would frustrate a company. However, I do have a suggestion....Rather than worry about a now shitty company (outside of Opti) copying heatsink designs, Maxxsonics would be better served ensuring that all the Hifonics amps can actually do rated.

Does CA.com give a shit about copied heatsinks? No. Would they care if all Hifonics amps actually started to do rated like the MBQs? Yes.

Effort can be used in better ways by Maxxsonics
