I was woundering (for fun of course) Could you have a dual .25 ohm VC or SVC .25? or even lower like .133 ohm VC? Think if they made an amp that would handle it (orthe sub would be a good amp frier). I know its stupid but I was woundering if its possible.

i have two quad 1 ohm 15's i could wire down to .125 if i wanted, but my orions only like .25 at the lowest.

I know some amps can run @ .125, which is amazing.

I know there Q1 and stuff but i mean if you hooked a DMM up to one coil it would read .133. If you had the resources to could you pysicaly make a sub that had d.133 coils, or would it be too low of an impedance for the sub VC, and they would get too hott or something?

sure its possible but its probably not a good idea to have a single vc .25 ohm sub..........with that low of resistance you get significantly higher currents.......they dont make subs like that because its not practical or safe for the every day person. not to mention they would have to use more expensive tinsels and vc to handle all the current.

my fiance makes brain electrodes and has to zap them with an ohm zapper or whatever they are called, i should ask her //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

i'm sure it can be done though, not sure how haha

but it can be done? I dont know why I care so much, I just had the idea pop in my head and I couldent get it out without an answer.

sure it can be done........copper only has a resistivity of .000000017 ohms per meter.......resistance is resistivity times the length devided by area.........its possible but like i said it draws significantly more current which is I=V/R voltage devided by resistance.

and another thing with that low of a resistance is the signal wont be as clean i believe....my dad (who is an engineer for the air force) told me that when you wire subs for lower impedance and stuff you get a lot less clean of a signal

Impedance has nothing to do with signal quality or degradation. The lower the impedance, the more distortion your amplifier will display. However, many amps are made to run extremely low impedances and will display less distortion, at say 1ohm, than a more tradition amp would at 4ohms. My point is a system running at a lower impedance does not inherently mean it will sound dirtier.
Resistance (ohms) of a voice coil are simply a measure of the amount of resistance the vc shows when passing current through this. To make a coil with a lower resistance, a shorter winding would be used.
