now, how do i get to the 'subwoofer on/off' to work the LPF? anybody know?

The pains of getting use to the Excelon's. It's really not that difficult, but it is a learning process. I know for me it did take some time to get it all figured out, but after time, my X-990 became a sound quality lovers delight. Very precise and the time alignment is great. This deck sounds fabulous. As far as your LPF, is should adjust right along with the rest of your channels. It should read Front, Rear, and then Sub. To make a comment and say get a Alpine deck, is not needed in your case. Although, Alpine's are wonderful decks, and I would never say anything bad about them, I doesn't adress your issue. Hang in there and learn your deck, you will be very happy with your X-792 when you get all to come together.

to adjust xovers and such, push and hold the volume knob and it brings you into a sub menu for xovers front/rear/sub

just push the knob to bring up sub control/eq and such, then when you get to bass/mid/treble you can push and hold it, it will bring up where you can select the freq and Q value
