There's a thing in the latest issue of Hot Rod magazine about a 17 year old kid who replaced the 427 motor in his numbers-matching original paint 66 Corvette convertible with a brand new ZZ502 crate motor. What kind of parent buys their kid a car like that? If you're going to be stupid enough to buy your kid a Vette, at least make it a newer one that will be slightly safer in the massive wreck they will be getting into. At least it would keep another classic car from getting messed up.

Parents these days are almost as bad as the kids they raise.

there is a girl at my school (16) with a yellow stingray with a 427 in it...her dad has a ferrari and her brother a **** fast Z28...they built it for her. it's a very nice car...LOUD.

but yea, parents...i mean come on. it's absurd.

i take more pride in knowing i bought it and worked hard for it.I take pride in my stereo because iv worked hard for it and i think i deserve it.I would assume the same goes for car performance.

you just dont value it as much if its given to you.IMO

yep...my parents havent paid for one cent of my stereo and it makes it sound all the better...

it's easy for us to say w/o money, but i think that if i had something given to me i'd probably take it...i'd like to think that i wouldnt. but i would...and most of you probably would too. don't try to deny it...

oh well...that's human instinct for ya...can't get over it.

I'd take it, sure, but if somebody handed me the keys to that perfect '66 427 Vette and enough cash for a 502 crate motor (around $8000 last I checked), I'd take the money and buy a daily driver, only taking the Vette out on special occassions. Cars like that shouldn't be driven every day by anyone, let alone a 17 year old. I think I'd have enough sense to respect the car a bit.
