In U.S., 46% Hold Creationist View of Human Origins

Seriously, 46% of the US believes that God(the Christian one) created the human race sometime in the past 10,000 years? That's not saying that God created the universe, then helped(whatever that's supposed to mean) with evolution. That's saying that God created humanity less than 10,000 years ago, in its present form.

On top of that, creationists are lobbying to get references to evolution(human or otherwise) removed from textbooks because it forces them to defend their beliefs. Fuuuuuck that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

It's mostly from the Bible-belt and die hard protestantism that this country was founded on.

I think how the universe was created will be beyond human comprehension and that despite advanced sciences, we will never really find the answer to it. I believe in evolution because it's pretty undeniable, but I also believe in God.

One thing that pisses me off is when atheists point to Darwin as the basis of their arguments, when in fact Charles Darwin was a religious man. Science and God can co-exist.

Personally, I believe a supreme being created everything, but had little to do with how the universe developed.

**I am also thinking that the universe has pretty much always existed, it is infinite. With no beginning and no end.

I fucking love tacos.

Cod, cilantro, onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, and lime juice. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I don't know whats more annoying, bible thumpers or evolutionist. I'm thinking the latter because most bible humpers don't use comps.
That's because they're too stupid. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

My religious beliefs are complex, and always changing with experience. I, like you, get annoyed by zealots of any nature. Life is much more than simple chemical compounds reacting with one another, and a 2,000 year old book written by people cannot be thought of as "the one true religion".

I don't like to try to slap a name on the unexplainable. I feel like it defeats the purpose.

just proves that over half the country has no understanding of physics or chemistry. You can thank our wonderful education system for this.
This. I am by all means a Christian, but ignorance of what we have learned does nothing for mankind or God. Science and faith can coincide, and actually perpetuate one another. The world is older than 10,000 years, it was also more than likely not created in 7 Earth days as experienced by humans.
