Okay, today I went into this car audio place in my town. These guys come here about twice a year and I went there too see about a new amp and sub setup. This is what it includes 2 Xenon 1200.1, 1 100.4, and 2 Xenon 12D4. This is all Phoenix Gold. The retail of all this was $6000 Canadian from these guys and will give it too me for $2500 Canadian. Thats including tax. They say it will pound 5 times harder then my Alpine setup. I don't know. Should I go for it?

Whats the RMS on the subs? I dont see why you would need two amps, if the RMS is around what Im thinking. Also, a large number of people had complaints with reliability issues on the Xenon amps.

I don't have the 2005 Type R's. I have the 2004 Type R's which are 300 RMS.
I know, they can handle 500w RMS daily though. I feed mine about 375-400w RMS each daily and it pounds pretty darn lound. I can think of a lot of things to spend the 2500 $ on instead of PG equipment...

Mine are only doing 275 watts RMS cause I have dual 2 ohm subs which are doing a 4 ohm load on my MRD-M501 which is only 275 watts RMS @ 4 ohms.

If you want more Bass go find a new amp, that's all you need man. Don't waste so much money on that PG stuff. You have a pretty darn good system as is. Just find some new amps. =D

It's hard to find what I want cause my town only carries Sony, Rockford, and Alpine. And the store where I got my stuff from is closing down and then I don't have any place to get amps in my town. If I get new amps, I might as well get new subs too cause too many people in my town have the same setup.

I havent heard anything good about Pheonix Gold...I would stay away from it. If the price is $6000, but he is willing to sell it for under half off, somethign seems fishy to me.
Yeah, that is what I was thinking too. But I have a Phoenix Gold 2 channel amp for my speakers and it puts out some really nice sound.

Phoenix Gold is a good company, no doubt about it. Personally, I would avoid that shop. Think about it- they are attempting to sell you an amp that is capable of 1200 RMS for subs that are 500 RMS. The logical thing to do would be to use ONE Xenon 1200. By the way, how much is 2500 canadian in American dollars?

If I were you, Id just use the internet to shop. You could build a much better setup, probably for less. You say you dont want the Alpines because thats what everyone has- so go with a little known brand, like RE, ED, soundsplinter, ascendant, or something like that.

Probably about $2000 US. But I'm looking at getting 2 RE SX dual 2 ohm subs *cause thats what they come in* They are 1000 watts RMS each. So I want an amp that does atleast 1000 watts RMS. I was looking at a Memphis which is this amp http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/products/details.asp?id=66 and wire it to do a 1 ohm load or a Hifonics Brutus which is this one http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13120 and wire it up at do a 1 ohm load.

EXCELLENT CHOICE! One thing I would do is get an amp capable of pushing both of them- like a Orion 2500. FYI, you can change the coils on them, if you want. RE will do it for $25 a sub, in case the amp you pick warrants it.

I am limited to space lol. Thats a big amp. All this stuff has to fit inside of a 2003 Dodge Neon trunk.
