well the 3rd alt i got from EA works //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/omg.gif.05aa02c3095d6ce9338996654eca0863.gif anyways wt an idle with the defrosters on and headlights, i'm running at a constant 14.4 volts then it'll drop to 13.8 volts but go right back up to 14.4. is that normal? also when i'm driving and i turn on the defroster, the volts will dip a little but bounce back up. is this what they call the blinking effect or whatever?

 
well at an idle it drops sometimes to 13 volts. then the needle moves back and forth between 14 and 14.4. it seems like it is struggling at an idle and i'm not even running any amps. i also hear a faint howling noise coming from the alt.

 
don't have the cherokee anymore. it's a 96 bonneville 3.8. i meant 950 not 9500 lol today it seems to be alot better. it's running at a constant 14.7 volts at idle and no flucuation

 
hey ice make sure your carefull and monitor that thing for a long time like i said in another thread im on the fifth repair the last time i thought everything was golden but after two weeks of flawless operation on my way to work i only made 52 miles of the sixty mile i drive to work and it dropped dead, battery gauge sunk like the titanic i managed to baby it to a gas station

luckily my dad is a mechanic so he called up there dealer and got me an oem and i changed it that night in the gas station lot (a whoppin 5 degrees out to might i add)

i haven't gone far. i carry my stock with me and tools. only takes like 20 minutes to change mine.

 
i swear this alt is like a woman. it has good days and bad. yesterday it was perfect. today however at an idle the volts drop to 12.5-13 and my lights dim and i don't have any amps hooked up. my idle is fine because i idle at 1000 rpms
