Thinking Bedliner

Hey WrenchGuy,

If you remember my box build for the 18 I used bedliner and came out pretty good, but if i went back and did it again, Id go over the enclosure with body filler to make sure the entire box was perfectly uniform and so the ends of the mdf didn't soak up more than the broad-sides of the boards...just something to keep in mind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sorry to thread jack a bit, but if you hit a box with a nice layer of bed liner, will it hold out water?

Because I want to cover my table saw, and I was thinking of just making a wooden box around it, put weather stripping on the bottom and coat the outside (and maybe the inside) with bed liner.

Aye or nay?

For protecting your table saw Id say get some metal-protecting oil to put on all of the metal surfaces and then simply cover it with a plastic sheet or something

I would use fine sandpaper to remove any surface stains and parrafin (canning) wax to seal it up and protect it from rust. The wax makes the wood slide nicely across the top too.
Very true //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The thing you've got to look out for with bedliner/undercoating is that a lot of the cheap stuff is asphalt-based, and when it gets hot, it stinks... a lot of 240/race car guys gut their interiors and use that shit to try and keep the noise out, and once the sun bakes it for a while the stench is unbearable.
As far as layup, it was already stated - light coats, with a drying/flash time in between. It'll stick to the wood just fine.
It sometimes doesn't dry solid either, its always kind of soft and tacky. I did that too one box and will never do it again. Can't remember the brand I used.
