Thinking Bedliner

Searches have deemed less than favorable results by people.

Anyone have a successful attempt at bedliner on their boxes? I'm thinking roll on.

Pics would be sweet and which primer seems to do the job. I figure the texture should cut back on some of the sanding.

Thanks.

I used bedliner on my box and it turned out really good. I just used the spray type and there was no need for primer. I just hit it with some sandpaper and coated that bad boy.

I seen a couple pics of the spray on and the lay up was horrible. I think they may have cut it short on coats though.

I'm thinking the roll on would layup thicker and go further but not real sure.

P.S. If anyone has paid attention I'm just putting the BTL's back in:D

They probably sprayed too close to the box and used thick coats.

I did very, very light coats and let it dry 15min in between. It took two cans but came out really nice.

Dupli-Color is the best imo.

Yeah, but it is from far away. UPS put a few dents in it so you will see some imperfections. This is without the port painted, which is finished presently.

It is pretty durable imo.

I just did a box for my friend single cab truck with spray on bed liner/undercoat. I started the walmart bed liner but it was terrible for spray. I then went to the spray on 3M rubberized undercoat, and IMO it cam out very nice. Takes a good few days to completely set and harden but if very strong and went on very well. If you want to see the progress of the box and how sh*ty it looked before the heres the link

but heres some pics of it finished up.

The thing you've got to look out for with bedliner/undercoating is that a lot of the cheap stuff is asphalt-based, and when it gets hot, it stinks... a lot of 240/race car guys gut their interiors and use that shit to try and keep the noise out, and once the sun bakes it for a while the stench is unbearable.

As far as layup, it was already stated - light coats, with a drying/flash time in between. It'll stick to the wood just fine.

heres the box I did for my Xterra

no primer, just sanded. Port was primed and painted with gloss black latex paint. Very smooth and looks good against the bedliner

My AQ HDC3 15" is in there right now for a temporary setup in my MDX
