Thinking about trying 4 12"s now

Ive been thinking about selling my 2 15"s ive had for a few weeks and trying 4 12s for my next install. I have the 15s in almost 8 cubes ported, 12s would be in the same airspace. I can get another extra cube if i make the port external.

I also pondered selling the 15s and picking up 2 18s and somehow squeezing 11 cubes net out of the trunk. I think i could do it, but then i need extra batts, alt, more wire, etc.

The 15s are loud as hell and im wondering if 4 cheaper lower power 12s would compete with them or not?

i like the fact that I have 8 coils to distribute my amp's power to with my four 10's, and as of right now the loudest my car has ever gotten was my four 12's... i think you should give it a shot with four 12's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'll be doubling up on amps and dropping the impedence to .5 each so hopefully I'll get back up where my four 12's were! do it!!!!

Well, im looking for some more input, 4 12"s have a little bit more cone area and the ones im looking at are more efficient, but i love my I pipes. Shit was crazy loud till one of the magnets fell off, now its only kinda loud. Lulz.

That would be pretty cool. Not a fan of Pyramid myself, but if you like them, more power to you.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

You going to keep the same amp if you get them?

Oh yea, i love my ap1800. I know pyramid seems shady, but these are the best subs under 50$ youll ever get, way better than the super cheap HiFi subs from hifonics. Plus if i dont like them im not really out anything, ill just sell em to someone.

About 25 years ago I had 2x15's (ev15b) in a ported box it went good .

In the same box (8 cu) and bought some junky becker 12" 8 ohm polypro home drivers , put them in a 2 cu (per driver) sealed and that went better .

Say the drivers are the same (same x-max power handling etc) 4x12 will move more air than 2x15 even though one box was ported one was sealed .

I drove it with a zapco ?220 wpc? so I had enough power .

That box was in a volkswagon convertable it was the whole backseat drivers faced up .

Just make sure you have plenty of power and your box is very solid .

I dont think 11 cubic is enough for a pair of 18's its kinda tight for 15's .

2.7 cubic per 12 is good !

Mine hit so hard it made my eyes shake (120 db@40 hz) and that was 60 watts per 12 .

Remember to get drivers that are effeciant enough for the amp.
