Thinking about switching to a 8w7

Alright, so right now I've got a 15" L7 in my grand cherokee. I'm kinda over the whole beginners basshead deal, and want something more clean sounding. I've decided on a 8w7. Given that the grand cherokee's pretty open space-wise.. think it would still sound good? I'd figure they'd sound better in a smaller, more closed environment. Just wondering if that has any effect on the sound or output of the sub.

in short, question is... will 1-2 8w7's sound good in my jeep, ported?

well, I'm not very experienced with precision building for boxes. right now it's in a sealed, and a lot of people tell me 'don't seal L7's. they love to be ported.' but I'd need a plan for a nice ported box. :\

I can build it as long as I have plans. Cutting and measuring is no problem. I even countersink my screws. but planning out the port area and whatnot.. no can do.

haha funny i read this thread...i have an 18Q in my GC and im thinking im almost over the crazy SPL bass period in my life and might move on to some good sounding comps with a smaller sub....i was also thinking maybe like a 12 or 13W7 off of 1000 watts in a sealed box....

8s are fun trust me...just do a single 8W7 in something like a transmission line or a well designed ported box...it wont be as loud as the L7 (depending on your current installation) but I bet it will sound very good and be **** impressive for an 8...

BTW also consider the RL-i 8, its also a good candidate and considerably cheaper...
