Thinking about downsizing

Considered the Dayton Reference 8"? Much lighter than any of the subs mentioned other than the ID 8. Shouldn't want a lot of power either and gets quite low in a smallish sealed box.
Thanks I'll take a look. I do have about 850W RMS to play with, so keep that in mind. I will detune it to the recommended power of the driver though.

Still looking at 8's. I want a set of SS RL-i8's but it is unknown when they will hit the market again. How do RE-8's compare or the TC Epic 8's? I will be going with a pair of 8's to replace the single 12 i have now.

Elemental Designs SQ10's look interesting and much lighter. I know these are larger, but how do they compare SQ-wise to SS RL-i8's and TC 8's etc?

Unless you know a source for RLi-8's used, Id forget that idea. Ive seen threads of people waiting for them to start coming out again for a long time. Correct me if Im wrong, but I believe they are a TC/Audiopulse based driver, which means who knows if they will even ever be made again at all.

Have you considered a single IDQ10? You'd want to gain your amp down abit, or step up to a single IDMax10 to retain the amp's full power.

Im currently intrigued by the -X series of subs too. Im gonna have to sell off both kidney's when the sicko-x hits the market.

I spoke to someone at Soundsplinter last month. IIRC they found a new supplier and are gearing up to start making RL-i8's again in the next few months. They do not know when they will be released.

TC/Audiopulse is back in business after bankruptcy, no? I know they redesigned their website after going bankrupt.

From what I understand, they are still producing speakers. PartsExpress has a pretty good deal going on 10" Revo's right now, but with their recent history who knows when, or if, they will start producing that specific speaker again. That is, if Im even remembering correctly that it was TC based.

Sounds like the info you got implies it doesn't really matter anymore anyway.

well they say the next few months but anything can happen, so I'd like to look at other options.

Nice option there - $230, for a single, powerful, clean 10" subwoofer. Probably can run it off the 850 RMS pretty easily.

And it's a D2, so you can wire it to the 1 ohm you're looking at.

Not the revo, however - the epic is the lower power model. Revo's aren't listed anymore - just the Axis models, and the 10" Epic's.

Thanks Plutoman! I forgot parts exp. sold audiopulse stuff. Ok that option is on the table. I think the Epic 8's are similar to the RL-i8's iirc. I wonder if they can get the 8's though. I only see the 10's.

Not nearly the deal as the Revo's were. $199 for a 10" Revo. So I wouldn't think paying more for a lesser model now is such a great deal.
