Thinkin About a Recone (II)

When I got my subwoofer (Mmats Dreadnaut) it was an apparent recone (no logo on the dustcap and kinda different looking..) But it has never performed 'great'. It continually bottoms out and I have tried different enclosures, and lacks SQ (could just be the driver on that one though), but I am pretty much waiting for this to burn up. My question is, should I just send it in for a recone to Mmats?

And should it possibly be reconed into a Juggernaut?

i would if i were you, imo you can never be too safe, and those are some mean subs. my hc performs 'Great'. its just that the reason im changing mine up is because it has a lesion ( 2 inch slice) in the dustcap, and i put a very small hole in the cone right next to the dustcap.

I believe the jugg and dread have 2 different motors.

I thought the sub was just bottoming out because of the size of the enclosure, but I just recently got a chance to try a few different enclosures and now see that it does it all the time...

It can't just magically turn into a better subwoofer (I.E. juggernaut). They have two COMPLETELY different motors. Duh.

I saw in the other thread the guy asked if his HC could be reconed into an SX, which is why I was asking... But okay.

this is kinda true, the HC can be recones with SX soft parts.... but it will always be an HC..

hell depending on the voice coil/gap size u could probly have your sub reconed by RE
