or

A/D/S

the only other speaker I have heard that I like is the alpine spx and they wont fit in my car's doors.. too deep. 2.88 or so I think. I already have a nak head and I have always loved the tight sound from the nak subs. But, I hear a/d/s is the shizz and the lower mounting depth is a plus for my space max 2.50.

Also if the rms is 70 and the peak 120, do I size my amp to 70 and 120 per channel? or do I bump it up since its a component set? Thx

my head puts out 43 x4 but it has preouts for the amp

thx

Guess I should clarify that I like a nice tight base.. not thump or boom. I dont like tin'y highs or too much crisp. I like warmth and balance. Boston Z series is the only other well known speaker I have heard that was acceptable but there was too much high end crispness for my tastes compared to the alpine spx anyway. I listen mostly to techno so lots of fast beats so an accurate response is key for me

budget is secondary but $200-300 for the speaker with $200-300 for the amp seems reasonable.

I have to figure out what size the amp needs to be then I will go after one. Im leaning towards the naks at this point just beacuse they are cheaper and I doubt Ill be able to hear much of a difference once mounted. So Ill probably find a nak amp to match the power I need just to be simple and relatively cheap.

I really appreciate the advice and as I stated in my first post I really like the spx. They are probably my favorite although I havent heard a/d/s or diamond. But the spx are too deep to mount in my car. The alpines are 2.88 and the max I have after cutting a bunch of stuff up is 2.50". Anything larger than 2.5" will require much custom work or surface mounting which is something I dont want (or need) to do.

Have you pulled the panel off to see how much clearance there is between the speaker mount and speaker grille? If you have adequate space, you might be able to fit the SPX's in there with an MDF spacer ring.

I had to do that with my 03 VW Golf. The SPX's were just too deep, but there is about 5-6" clearance from the mount to the grille, so a spacer was a must and fixed the problem.
