THE Thread

I've not had 'Net access for a week or so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

So now that I have it back for a bit I find a letter in my Inbox regarding an amp I sold on eBay not long ago.

My buyer bought the amp, left my positive feedback, and then shortly thereafter used MY item listing (verbatim including the pictures //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif) to resell it.

Now I get a request to return the unit for a refund because supposedly he has taken the amp to some local place and was told the RCA inputs are shot?!? WTF is that?? How are you going to ask to return something you've already sold???

maybe I could change the background color to something like a dark gray, lighten it up a bit.... I think that wouldn't be bad, their shop shirts are all gray

The show is gonna be at our shop in Surrey, it will be IASCA SPL, SQ and show and shine. It is our finals for the year... big trophies, lots of events, prizes, yada yada

5 words: No Refunds On Electronic Items
I always make sure to put that in my listings since I don't know what the skill level is of the person who's going to be installing said electronics..
Those words were plainly included in my original listing.

In my response I not only reminded him of that but also made it very clear that I was not appreciative in the least regarding his plagiarism.

It was working when it left my test bench....was powering a pair of KFC-Xw10dB subs just fine. I cannot see how the RCAs could have gone bad in transit so I don't know what to tell him other than Too Bad So Sad (though I hate to be that way) Add to that the fact that according to eBay he's already resold the amp and is just now asking me for a refund?? Wtf is that?!?

I might have been born at night.....but it wasn't last night.

I sold an xtant 3300x a while back.. Everything goes fine until I get an email from the buyer that the amp blew up on him and how disappointed he was.. He said it worked fine for about 3 days, then poof, the magic smoke all came out.. I told him that I used the amp for years, and so did the guy who I bought it from.. I told him that obviously it worked when I sold it to him and that I couldn't be responsible for what happened after that.. I suggested that he may have dropped a few strands of wire inside the amp while he was installing it, since this is a common problem and has happened before to xtant owners who strip their wires while installing the amp while the cover is off.. Either that, or he might have dropped a screw or something else metallic into the amp, all relating to his install.. A few days later, he sends me an email to admit that he may have indeed stripped the wires over the exposed amp and that may be what caused it.. Then he left me a positive feedback.. I was kinda sad to hear it blew since it was such a fine amp, but there's no substitute for paying attention when you're installing..

Anyways, the point I'm getting at is that I KNOW the condition of electronics before I sell them, and I never offer any sort of refunds because the install won't be done by me.. Simple as that.. So I make sure that all my listings state something along those lines to cover my butt.. But I'll offer all the help and advice I can.. I even told this guy to be careful when installing it since the cover will be off and the guts exposed.. He didn't listen, and now he has a $250 door stopper..

Prowla, you are an honest guy, and saying too bad, so sad is the way it has to be.. There's a lot of dishonest people out there who will say anything to try to cover their *** when the screw something up when installing.. I don't like to be like that either, but I'm also NOT going to be taken advantage of..

Clearly stating that the item has been fully tested working and that no claims for refunds due to non-working electronics will be honored is the only way to do it.. Making your bidders realize this before they buy is another matter entirely.. With so many dishonest people in the world, it's hard to be the good guy.. Everybody is out for themselves and trying to make a quick buck or get something for free..

Well, the NO Returns disclaimer was plainly included in my listing so he's out of luck there. I know for certain the amp was working when it left my possession so I cannot see why it wouldn't be now.

Add to that the fact that he used MY listing (exactly as I originally listed it) to resell it and I can't say that I have much sympathy for him...

Oh well.

I've already gotten feedback from him so I guess that's all to the good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Hmmm.. sounds cool.. I just may have to come and partake in the festivities.. I'm not sure what I'm doing that weekend yet, but if I can swing it, I'll be there..
