well it's some mexican inspecting parts now, but around the turn of the century, 2000 or so is when it started to unravel fast
Yes, but is it the same foreman who is passing these parts? Mexican or not, I don't think this is the root of the problem here.. They know they are building an inferior product but it doesn't seem to matter to them.. They have no long-term vision and they think they can screw people over and they will just keep coming back to take it up the *** again next time.. Well, as you can clearly see by the state of the domestic auto industry, this isn't the case..

And I realize it's all money driven, but you would think that they have been in business long enough now to know loyalty makes more money (in terms of repeat sales) than trying to cut corners and turn a quick buck at the expense of pissing off your customers.. It's so simple really.. And a shame that it happens in our countries.. We are supposed to be smarter than that, aren't we? The Japanese have it figured out and have been doing business this way forever, and it's working out pretty well for them.. Why can't the domestic makers learn?

you think japenese don't cut corners? i'm sure there is alot of untold stories behind the scenes. the fact remains that when the big 3 started sending work to mexico and china, the quality has suffered. you'd be hard pressed now to find a full operating plant in the metro detroit area now. they have all changed to delphi and visteon

I drive an '01 Mustang. Had a '98 Explorer Sport, a '99 Ranger, and a '93 Lincoln in my family and we only had to change the tires on them.....

The problem that I see with these "haters" is that most of them (not you Cy) treat their cars like complete SHIT. I can't tell you how many times I've given a co-worker or a new friend a ride and they tell me "wow your car is clean inside". I don't even clean it that often! I just don't leave trash rolling around in the passenger side floorboard like 90% of the world does. The big 3 can and DO make cars that hold together very well......if you treat it like a piece of equipment that needs maintanance. If you treat it like your toilet it's not going to last..... the imports go the extra mile and design the cars with slobs in mind...... but there aren't many imports with the specs of my car that cost just over $20k out the door. Most, if not all comparable imports like WRX, Evo, A4, GTI, etc. start at or near $30k.

quality of everything sucks these days
I agree.. But why is it that when some says 'Made in Japan' it usually has better quality than something made anywhere else, including the US and Canada? The Japanese are very smart people who understand the most basic principle of business which is keep the customer happy at any expense, if you ever want to have customers in the future.. Again, seems to be working pretty well for them.. It took a long time for it to become common knowledge that 'Made in Japan' means quality, and it's why they are going to survive.. They know what people want and take the time and spend the money to do it right.. We could stand to learn a lot from them.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I agree with everything you said.. But if 90% of the owners are slobs and treat their cars as such, why won't the big 3 adapt? Why is it the imports that only go the extra mile?

And I might be a hater, but not for the simple sake of hating.. I've learned to hate thru experience.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif
