This is similar to my experiences.. Ford is the worst for stuff like this.. It makes me sick to hear them preach 'Quality is Job 1'.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
And I agree teebone, the mid-level cars are generally better built than the Sunflowers and Cavys, but still can't touch the imports, usually for right around the same price.. And it hurts to have to send my car-buying dollars to Japan instead of keeping it local, but when I'm spending that much money on something, I'm gonna get the best product I can for the money..
eh people get too caught up in the foreign thing. i have yet to see a reason to switch to foreign cars. the only aerican car i had that gave me problems was an 89 ranger with a 2.3 4 cylinder

my dad worked for ford's. lately it's becoing all about money. he got inured at work so he basically became a parts inspector and every bumper that came off the line that he said wasn't any good, the formen would let it go anyways. it got to the point where he didn't even inspect the parts anymore

And just for the record, the big 3 automakers DO know how to build a quality product, but choose not to for the sake of saving a few dollars here and there.. Well, when will they realize that saving a few dollars for the sake of quality is costing much more than it's saving them? I know LOTS of people who will never buy domestic again because of the crappy build quality, so it's costing them much more when you look at the big picture.. They need to wake up and realize people demand quality.. This is why the Honda Civic is the best selling car for the past how many years in a row? It's not rocket science here.. People just don't like getting fuct out of their hard earned dollars to end up with some piece of crap, no matter how loyal you are to your country and the people who's jobs depend on it..

I think I see a problem there.. I think the same thing happened to the people who inspect interior parts years ago..

Quality is Job 1!!!!

well it's some mexican inspecting parts now, but around the turn of the century, 2000 or so is when it started to unravel fast

How many GM and Chrysler products do you see driving down the road that has the paint falling off? I see it every day.. I would be soo pissed if that happened to mine, but I see older Hondas and Toyotas that still have great looking paint jobs after 20 years.. I'm guessing the people that are driving these domestics with the crappy paint jobs have a bad taste in their mouth about it and will think twice about buying from the same maker again.. How couldn't you if you had to drive around in an eyesore like that everyday? I feel bad for them..
