THE Thread

Agreed.. It sounds good and all, but don't try to find any song in particular.. It makes my 60GB iPod a random jukebox at best.. The W200 uses Alpine's new high-speed connection, which they promise is as fast as searching on the iPod itself.. I'll believe it when I see it tho.. Either way, it's gotta be better than the 420i..

I can handle it being a little slow... as long as I get the proper information like text displays and a decent interface for choosing artists/songs/whatever

The problem with the Eclipse one is that 2005 and prior units had no native support for iPod. This leaves you with 2 options... you can set it up to use either Sirius emulation (2005 only), or CD changer emulation (2005-earlier). With Sirius emulation it's not bad, you get the text display of whatever you are listening to. However, when you are running Sirius (which I was), you have to use CD changer emulation. This way you get NO text at all from the iPod, so you have no idea what you are doing when you are navigating. It's extremely annoying. It's also VERY VERY VERY slow response, like 3+ seconds for anything after you press a button.

is the new adapter compatible with the older decks like the 9835?

the alpine one you can search artist, albums, songs, and i beleieve playlists. there is about a second delay between changing things. the only problem is when you have a lot of artist on your ipod, and you wanna scroll to one on the bottom of the list

scrolling is slow?

How slow is the Alpine unit?
What does it offer in terms of searching? Do I have the same options that I do on my iPod, like artist/album/track/random, etc?
it's not as fast as the ipod itself. you have about a second between switching artist and such. you can search artists and songs i know for sure. all you 2 is press 2 and the search button and your list of artist comes up and you con scroll through those. i believe it does playlist as well but i'm not sure

Some Day I will try the Eclipse iPod thingy on my CD7k and tell you how it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
wann buy my ipod adapter? It's almost brand new, it's just been sitting under my seat, hooked up, but never mounted, and I've used it maybe twice
