How good your 'Net connection is has nothing to do with how good your sniping is, Beat.
I have a 0-second snipe on record and it was done when I was still on dial-up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
eBay cannot, however, keep my bid from being placed until the last few seconds of the listing.
I was once as active on the discussion boards on eBay as I am here now and have had this argument time and time again until I am blue in the face.
I do not see it being dishonest in any shape, fashion, or form. Until someone resolutely convinces me otherwise based on actual fact then I will continue to hold said belief.
As far as using a 3rd party service being a violation of the UA I sent a question asking exactly that to eBay CS. We'll see what they say about it.
Here's a good example (the KAC-PS500F 4ch amp I run):
It was an eBay score that I sniped at 3 seconds left on the auction clock.
I bid $200. The closest underbidder had only proxied $80 so eBay only used $81 of my $200 bid to go above the next-closest bid.
Said underbidder sent me an email immediately after the listing was over (while I was in the process of PayPaling the funds to the seller) asking would I sell it to him for $200.
Had that bidder actually dedicated what he was honestly willing to spend (and his communication to me makes a pretty strong case for him being willing to spend at least $200) then I would not have won that listing.
If he had proxied $200 instead of $80 my $200 snipe bid would have lost. (earlier proxy bids of equal amounts to later-placed bids win //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif)
