I bet they do LOVE you...anyways If she never left Australia how did yall meet? sorry to pry, you dont have to answer if you dont want to
Wow, dude....as many times as I have related this story and as much time as you spend on the forum I figured you'd have run across one or more versions of it by now! And no, I do not mind telling it as it is nothing that I am ashamed of (I
did marry the woman, after all....she must have made at least a minimal impact on me, eh?)
Okay ~ here's the somewhat abridged version ~
When I first had access to the 'Net on a regular basis I became somewhat of an addict to chat rooms, as so many people do. My chat server of choice happened to be Yahoo! Well, if you don't know, Yahoo! gets the funding for its chat servers from advertisements and a good many of these advertisements unfortunately are for various **** sites (ergo: the Click On Me To See My Site! garbage you see too often in chat rooms on Yahoo!)
There's not much you can do about them if you are logging into chat directly through Yahoo! but if you're using an external chat client program like CheetaChat or something akin to it you can set filters to eliminate the **** ads from your awareness by setting filters that trigger on certain words or series of words.
When my wife first encountered me in a chat room it was fairly obvious to the casual observer that I was somewhat of a chat 'veteran' and kindof knew the ins and outs so she sent me a private message asking if I knew how to get rid of the **** spam. Since I did and full well understood how aggravating it could be I took her through the steps to set the above-mentioned filters figuring that the conversation would be over quickly after that with a "Thank You" or similar and she would be on her way.
It didn't quite work out that way.
What I assumed would be a fairly quick and unimportant conversation turned into an hours-long chat. The next night brought about another hours-long chat and the same for the next several nights in succession.
After talking online and over the phone for several months I knew that I had fallen madly in love with her (or what I thought I knew her to be at the time but who knows when it's someone on the 'Net, right?)
In 2001 I went to Australia for three months to be with her so we could see if it worked as well in person as it did online and over the phone.
It didn't.
It was unimagineably better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif
In 2004 I went back to Australia to help finalize plans for our wedding and to get some details sorted that required my presence.
In 2005, as many of you know, I went over for a third time to actually get married (Oct 15, 2005 to be exact).
As i am madly in love with my wife and she does not wish to leave Australia (and after having spent some time there I cannot say I blame her one little teeny bit!) the plan has been all along for me to move there rather than her move here.
The city where I will be living in just beautiful....no matter where you are in town you're only 20 minutes from the beach, food is cheap, people are friendly, and
all the women have that incredible (to me, anyway) Australian accent FTW!!!!!
Obviously seeing as it
is a several years long relationship and process at this point there is an incredible amount of detail left out of the above but it's complete enough to get the idea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
