for the people who moved out and live on your own, how much do you pay per month for an apartment or town home or condo? Plus how to you finance everything? Give me some tips.

i bet i have the cheapest rent on the forum (excluding living @ home with mom & dad)...$100 a month..two bedroom house with garage and fenced yard. heh and i think i just found some place to move after winter ends that will be free..older lady moving to be closer to her family...doesnt want her house to sit empty...so she said i could live there for free if i kept the heat on (pipes freeze here) and the mice out. I'm all over it..

the downside to my living situation is that I'm in south Dakota. Driving 125 miles round trip to get to a super market..school..or anything bigger than a gas station mini mart.

ill here a tip...dont move out with roommates..sucks ***...wait till you can afford to live alone. Being roomates 95% of the time means you wont be friends when its all over.

2nd get a fcking washer and dryer...laundry mat ftl..

since i grew up around seattle i like the rain..i wish it rained more here..nice sitting inside all warm on a grey and rainy day..or driving around in the rain catching a buzz..rain ftw!!

That completely depends where you are...what I pay for a two-bedroom here in Blacksburg may be what you could pay for a closet somewhere more populated.

living in az, basically the prices i saw for an apt when i was browsing online was this; 1b1b around $500-$700 2b2b $700-$900 some do include utilities such as water,gas,electricity and trash. As for luxory apt; 1b1b $800-$900 2b2b $1000-$1300, and this is not including utilities.

i've been out for awhile now, but here are my experiences.like it was already mentioned, prices vary greatly between different areas...

i once went in on an apartment with a friend...got screwed. the place was 380/mo with no utilities. paid for just about everything and keeping food in the fridge was impossible.

went in with another friend on another place but same sorta thing happenned again. don't remember the price.

i moved to arizona and started up a company with my father. i paid half the rent for the office and live there. total rent was 830/mo and i paid 415/mo. this is where i learned i liked living on my own much more than with friends. i lived there for ~3yrs

i had a 2 bedroom 1972 mobile home for the last 5 years or so. i traded a motorcycle for it. i paid rent in a trailer park...270/mo and i had to pay electricity(~45/mo). that was easy and anyone could afford something like that. i sold the home for 2000. if you can find something like that, it would be perfect.

now, with my growing family and all i bought a 3 bedroom house that i got for a great price(118k). payments are 800/mo with all utilities my responsibility(~270/mo cuz it's winter). payments on the house can be split up to 400/every 2 weeks but i try to just send in 1000/mo out of one paycheck and pay the rest of my bills with the other check i recieve very month. this wouldn't be my recommendation for just getting out on your own except for the fact that if i sold my house today, i would make ~20k profit.

nice, i wouldnt mind getting a house for 118k but as for morgages and loans i dunno.
