HP isn't only for top speed but also acceleration. It could be pretty fun getting on the freeway with this power. Also you could take the car down to the track or drag strip to have some fun. One advantage to a car having this much power stock is that it tends to be a more reliable 1,000 horse power than a souped up car, because you are starting with a totally new platform that has been designed to handle 1,000 hp. Not to be mean but a V6 will never sound like a v8, they have a totally different sound. Your car might sound like a v6 302.Originally posted by Jeremy jl fan thats alot of **** power and I really dont see the need for it on the street....or the highway since they have the speed limit set to 70mph in most places.....Like when dodge came out with that 4x4 truck with the **** viper engine in it with a 6 speed tanny...the need is what? It looks and sounds cool....thats about it.....to be honest you can take just about any car and soup the engine up and make it bad a$$......example my 89' mercury cougar has a 3.8 v6 and it has a few mods and now it sounds like a 302 with a carb....
The mods were very simple at that.....bored .60 over to start....bigger pistons, racing cam shaft, aluminum rocker arms and lifters, chrome headers cool air intake and thats about it....now I no longer live in the states so I havnt done anything else to it...
It appears I was wrong. On the car and driver show that I saw on television I could have swore they said a v14, but I don't see anything anywhere about a v14.Originally posted by Wonderbread the one caddillac just unveiled a few months back in detroit at the car show, where they transformed the conference ceter into this like high calss place, it was called the Sixteen.. V16, 1000+ horsies...
Depending on where the v16 makes its power it may have a hard time getting traction. Hopefully the power is in the mid to upper rpm's, otherwise when you step on it you will be sitting there smoking the tires. Either way this car better have some fat tires.Originally posted by Jeremy jl fan Hey Man, Im just saying there probably have that idea being passed around right now.....I mean come on they got that corvetta that raced a place and barely lost...that have many huge engines and many mods to make it even faster....have you guys ever looked at a simple stock 302 out of a mustang then looked at the many things you can do to it......Im not sayin it could break the sound barrier, but a simple 302 with a 4 barrel 750 edelbrock carb on it.....very loud and very powerful.....add nos or somthing...so many ideas, but a v16 **** with over 1000 horse power.....so what car goes from 0-60 the fastest? well guess what that aint shit to the V16.
Throwing a different carb on a car is not rebuilding the engine. Remember the full effect of an improve intake is an improved exhaust, so swap out your stock exhaust for some more free flowing headers. Now if you get turbos, you'll probably have to totally take your engine apart in order to lower the compression ration and change to a turbo cam that has different duration and I believe less overlap, along with a turbo exhaust system.Originally posted by Jeremy jl fan Im 4976
What I said is simple man its just basically rebuilding a motor....
Now heres someone that understands common sense and physics. Merging with a gutless car is very scary and dangerous. My grandmother has a Ford Taurus and you can't pull out in front of anyone because it has no power. I think it's slower than my dad's fully tool loaded work truck. A fast car is actually safer than a slow car if the power is used safely and wisely.Originally posted by nswartley jeremy, the human race will always have a desire for speed (well, if not the human race, then the american race). companies will continue to make fast cars, like the dodge ram srt-10, which i love, even if you are only allowed to go the speed limit. any car can go over the speed limit, even my stock honda civic. most people just enjoy getting up to the speed limit quickly. also, sometimes you NEED the speed. like if you are merging, and some guy is gonna let you in but hes right on your tail, you have to step on the gas pretty **** quickly. or, if you are trying to make it into a small gap in the traffic then you NEED the fast car... just my 2 cents
yo Ronnie! what's been doing?Originally posted by rsflores for my lil one
exactly......if you have a faster car and you obey speed limit laws then it is actually safer....Originally posted by joshpoints Now heres someone that understands common sense and physics.
