A captain was commanding his pirate ship one moring when he heard from the crow's nest one if his pirates say "enemy ship dead ahead".

"Arr" he said to his assistant.."bring me my red shirt". Assistant does, the captain puts it on, and a great battle ensues where the captain's ship wins and doesnt lose a man.

"Wow" said the assistant, "but captain, why did you ask for a red shirt?"

"So.." said the captain, "that if i were shot in battle, the men wouldnt see it and therefor keep fighting until the end"

Next day..

"Captain!" from the watch in the crows nest "a fleet of 20 enemy ships comming at us and no time to turn around!"

Captain turns to his assistant and says:

"Arrr...bring me my brown pants"
