u know what?? someone paid for the music ur downloading, and i don't care if it was 10 generations ago, it is paid for. to hell with the copyright crap...we used to copy our tapes and hand them out....burn a friend a cd.....download some music....IT"S PAID FOR! the owner of the music should have the right to do with it as they see fit....if the musicians don't get rich...oh well, let them get real jobs, like the poor slobs paying $18 for a cd...

Actually, the majority of groups nowadays rip from copies stolen from pressing plants/recording studios/DAT's or they are from promos/advance copies, so in that sense, the music being downloaded has not been paid for.

Uh....it's common knowledge, it doesn't need to be proved. 99% of new releases are ripped and available on the internet before they are released.

Uh....it's common knowledge, it doesn't need to be proved. 99% of new releases are ripped and available on the internet before they are released.

I'd say a LOT less than that are released before the official release date...

wouldnt a magnet screw up a HD? i know youde have to get a new but just in case they did find that actualy one it would be totaly messed up beyond the point of recovery..as for the proxy ide rather have it slower than takin a chance but thats just me but i dont hardly d,load any music or any of that anymore

you know for musicians file sharing isnt a real bad thing if you think about it. through file sharing people can become aware of new artists that they have never heard of. eventually this may lead to more and more people attending their concerts which means more money for them. im sure most bands/artists make most of their money from the concerts as the record companies and everyone else takes a large chunk of their cd sales. it just greedy record companies thats messing it all up for everyone. they gotta hit the little guys like us for what is probably an insugnificant amount of money to them but a lot to us. i feel this whole thing is getting out of controll. i mean what next they gunna attack people seen with mixed tapes that you can record off the radio then stop radio transmitions unless you pay for a subscription then sue companies like memorex and sony who produce the products that allow people to copy music? that is about how rediculous this whole RIAA thing is getting. i beleive that they even have a spot on their website where you can nark or someone you know who has downloaded or is sharing songs with people.

But when you are downloading a song, how are you supposed to know how the person acquired the song?? You don't if they stole it prior to release, or if they bought a copy and are sharing it.

right...that's why i said earlier, if they could prove that u were sharing a stolen copy AND u were the one responsible for the stealing...then by all means proceed with legal actions....

but if u are just the guy downloading it...and maybe letting ppl upload it (after u get get initially)....then stfomb!! at the worst, make u erase the copy u have...in the legal system, if u pruchase or recieve stolen property, it's up to the courts to prove u knew it was stolen to be legally responsible. otherwise, they just confiscate it and ur out the change....

yeah, they are saying all the music is "stolen" because it's being shared, but that's horseshit!

yeah a magnet would mess with it but i wouldnt stop there, theres some really smart people who could probably still get info off ur HD.
