too bad with our privacy laws it is against the law to disclose any personal information about clients. They tried, was thrown out.

According to that link you posted, it didn't have anything to do with privacy laws but simply that at the time the CRIA didn't have enough information and evidence about the effect of music downloading to pursuade the court to swing in their favor.........kinda like trying to get a wire tap without sufficient evidence. The RIAA in the states can't get the information from an ISP for just any old reason because of our privacy laws....but the courts have ruled in their favor on the issue so now they can get your info if you have been caught sharing on-line. Same thing has the possiblity of happening in Canada.

But like said in the news article you posted, it's only for the time being. If the CRIA can gather enough evidence, the courts could rule in their favor. Not saying it will definitely happen, just that it could.

there is no real foolproof way to not get caught. there are methods that are close but if they want you bad enough they will get you. if you would still like to download musik or other things, i can point you in the right direction

"if" i were to ever download something it'd be from mIRC... it is a direct connect kinda like aimj when you are sending and recieving files. instead of downloading different parts from hella people. and if their is anyone from the RIAA in any of the rooms.... or they are the ones that sent you the file.. they are in direct violation of their own law, for distributing it. hahahah sucks to be them. even though they wont ever be prosecuted for doing it. I did a huge report on music and software piracy for my junior english class i'll try to find it. got an A+ w00t w00t.

IIRC, you're supposed to get a warning email for the violation. If you ignore that, then you get subpoenaed.
