The Official 15a Thread To End All Controversy

Why don't we gather up EVERYBODY who owns/owned a W7 that has had a problem with that of any sort.
That would be almost as pointless as this thread. It's a piece of man made equipment, there are going to be problems.
You sure do go around making dumbas$ comments........... ur post in this thread is pointless..

BUT ANYWAYS, i'm waiting for snova to post something about his 2 15a's... i don't htink he had pblms, but i know he's selling 1 of the 2 for sure.. Treo i think is his "big up coming purchase"

The stupid comment fit the thread, it was stupid. And you've single handidly made it even more stupid than it was to begin with. But then again, you do a good job at that.

Dont quote me on this...but i dont think the ones with the new backings are out yet. I talked to edesignjeremy and he said the new batch is coming out in about 2 weeks with the new backing, but the others new ones already ahve the new glue on them. Anyway that makes 2 for 6....and thats the point of this thread, to see if its just myth or truth that these subs are blowin all the time. Im personally impartial, jsut trying to get to the bottom of things...and so far its not lookin good
Urm....

Yeah....

I watched 4 of them be installed/get run through the lanes last weekend... I'm quite sure I know what I'm talking about.

I'm going to cast doubt on the impartial nature in your inquiry, as impartial people don't create such threads.

No, in fact i, about to buy some in a few days. I was jsut wondering what I can be expecting from these subs as far as reliabilty goes. And plus, so many people have posted that theirs have busted, then other people say that everyone is just blowing things out of portportion and there great and people are just complaining....I really jsut wanted to see what the truth of the matter was about the subs, and no better way to do that than to start a thread about them .Ok so anyway I know snova's were fine, that one other persons were fine, but rangerman blew his...so that makes 4 for 9. So is the new aluminum backing really gonna help? Were the cones just cracking in the past???

The primary problem was not the cone, it was the glue - the cone went because of it though.

It was letting go from a few issues (it's just too difficult to keep properly, and use properly in the situations that they were being used in.)

So to make it more fool proof, and just make the subwoofer more fool proof in the process, they added the entire aluminum backer for it. Lot of glue area, lot of dispersion capability. The former ring is adhered to the aluminum backer with the "eclipse" glue... And when was the last time you heard of an eclipse aluminum falling apart?

Why worry, if the cone breaks, eD fixes it for you. It's a warranty situation, so you are covered either way.

Im gion with the 15A's, no matter what, dont you worry about that. Supposed to get loud with great SQ, gonna be great to see how it sizes up against the 13W7. Anyway, were still 4 for 9, thats less than 50% and im not likin those odds. I guess it wont matter now, well see

4 out of 9 had problems...i thought...well still..everyone's gonna have problems man...and i think they were in spl situations anyway

Haven't even come close to killing the Mags yet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sreiously...the problem was never with the cone itself, it was the glue. The cone then went because of the piston beating the everloving shit out of it. Hopefully all those problems are resolved :thumbs_up

This thread ultimately is rather pointless though, because honestly it is more likely to feed sensationalism than to curb it.

In order for it to really have any relevance, you'd need a large number of people on the forum to own A's, otherwise you might be a pretty skewed sample of people, and any resulting information (such as the 4 of 9 drivers) is pretty much irrelevant and in no way applicable.

You can't really determine the failure rate of a product in that fashion, at least not if you want to be taken seriously.

For some reason people seem to misunderstand the problem and think that its a durability issue, but as Josh said, it was basically a GLUE issue.

The glue wasn't adhering properly, hence the new glue, better sanding, and aluminum backing to make the former adhere better to the back of the diaphragm.

Anytime you build something, you can expect to have problems. If a driver breaks due to manufacturer defect, ED replaces it. Ben has even gone out of his way on SEVERAL occasions to replace drivers which actually failed due to user error (by the user's own admission), even though these same users would go onto forums and claim that the driver broke because of manufacturer defect.

One even admitted that he just said it because he was worried ED wouldn't replace it. Do you understand why it's foolish to just make utterly pointless posts like this and just feed the environment of poorly informed sensationalism?
