**The MLB Thread**

seems like milwaukee got ***** in the deal. texas gets minor league prospects and milwaukee doesn't? cordero was a decent closer (former tiger i might add //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) but mench is a nice down grade at outfield and nix hasnt done shit.

martinez is one of the worst catchers in the league man. he only threw out 10% of base stealers. pudge is having a bad year behind the plate throwing out 30-35%. pudge used to average 50% in his prime.

Where are you getting 10% at? He is at .227. Plus he has an excellent fielding %. Dont make a lot of errors and will give you 140 plus games behind the plate. Which is pretty good now a days. I wasnt trying to compare him to pudge in his prime. Everyone knows Pudge no matter what team he was on is probably the best catcher now or then. He has had an amazing career even though his stats are down from where they used to be. But still amazing at him catching after all them years. But to say Martinez is one of the worst is really just retarded. He has been an allstar before, so highly doubt they would stick him back there if he was one of the worst catchers in the league just becasue he has a good bat.

my bad it's 16% not 10 but that is horrible. i don't know how you can defend that. most decent catchers range from 25-35%. he is behind the plate strictyly do to his bat. teams do that. i mean there is no way in hell manny ramirez should be allowed to field in position, but he does cause they need his bat

Ah, Victor Martinez has always been a catcher. Also how can you argue with me about his % of throwing out runners when there is so much more into catching. He very seldom makes errors and a lot of people dont run on him compared to others. I just looked at like 20 good catchers from the past, some still play and some dont and most of them are in the .200 to .300. So really with the guys I just compared to he is right in there with them with less errors. So I still dont know how you consider him one of the worst catchers. I swear you will argue about anything, lol!

Also where are you getting this 16% #? It is .227 so basically 23%.

look at the 2006 season //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif also look how many players attempt to steal vs. pudge. pudge doesn't nearly have the arm he used to but teams have only tried to steal on him 22 times. teams have tried to run on martinez like 60 some times already. i have found one catcher worse then martinez and that is mike piazza who was never known for his defense

If you are just taken stats by him being a bad catcher based on throwing %, then I am done. I am taken overall stats on him about being a catcher home fry. Man you pick and pick about one thing and that makes him one of the worst, lol! You my friend are //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

lmao i'm telling you why cleveland did this and why it's a good trade. it is not good to let people steal bases on you all day long. that is like the biggest fielding stat for a catcher. why do you think pudge won all those gold gloves? also moving to first base prolongs his career.
