**The MLB Thread**

What does it have to do? The White Sox brought in Vasquez improving there starting rotation, moving McCarthy in the bullpen also improved there bullpen. But those moves didn't help the White Sox at all. They have a higher ERA than they did last year, and probably would have more losses if it wasn't for Jim Thome, but don't forget we also lost Frank Thomas. So we haven't gained a whole lot more from getting Thome compared to what Frank is doing this year with Oakland.

they got dimitri young for nothing. they were able to get him off the dl and to give up no one. he can only help the team and he has.

lmao why do you think the tigers pitching is gonna collapse? why don't you worry about your pitching staff getting on track
When did I say collapse? If you were to tell me a while ago the White Sox pitching might not be as good the 2nd half, I would probably agree with you. I tell you Kenny Rogers won't pitch as good the 2nd half and you tell me I'm out of my mind. But just look at his last 6 starts. Miner hasn't been pitching great lately either. So basically you all are down to Verlander and Bonderman, where you know when they are on the mound you will get a win. You can't trust Rogers of late, and you can't trust Miner either. You know with those two on teh mound you will have to score runs.

well maroth will be back soon and he will be fresh so he can replace miner and you can move miner to the pen. kenny rogers is a veteran and i expect him to give the tigers some good pitching down the stretch. even though he didn't have a great second half, he was among the lead leaders in quality starts.

Just as easy as Chicago got into that slump, they can get out, and just as easy as Detroit can.

Id say if it were down to 1 game....Id still pick chicago...just because I know my team, and they are one of the most clutch teams in baseball...if it came down to an important game like that...they would tear it up, I can almost guarantee it. And we are in just as good of a position to get into the playoffs as the Yanks, and Minn. at this point....

by the way we have been playing...which is the worst team in baseball right now...., yea they have no chance in hell...but I doubt that will keep up...Pitching could continue to ****, but the hitting will come back. We still lead the league in runs scored, and Home runs..and continue to lead in home runs... I know that the runs scored came from before allstar break...but we still have our big sluggers rippin it, just have to get other guys hittin.

i'd take minnesota vs. chicago in a 1 game series any day any time. also if new york wins tonight, they take over sole possesion of the wild card and chicago would be on the outside

I bet you wouldnt have said that pre-allstar break... when we were what... 8 games up on them...and if you say yes.. I dont believe you 1 bit...that you'd take a team 8 games back over the sox at the time.

minnesota is 8 games behind detroit and i would take minnesota in a 1 game series against detroit. johan santana, and liriano who can come out of the pen if needed, is more then enough for me

no no...im saying...before allstar break... when WE were 8 games up on them...you would have taken Min.. vs. us in a series back then

But now.... Minn. vs. you guys... i dunno, dont really know either team to well, I just know Minn is hot as hell right now, so Id have to pick them

santana has proven to be one of the best pitchers in the game so i like my chnaces when he is on the mound. now in a 7 game series of would've taken chicago then.

the santana vs. bonderman game is gonna be a good one. also detroit has a good chance to win the robertson vs. radke matchup

assuming the iptching will be good on both sides...its all how the offenses are.... And thats where I think the Red Sox dominate right now.

tigers have a deep line-up. inge is usually the 9 hitter and he leads the team in home runs with 20. 3 players have 60 rbi's in the tigers lineup and only pudge and polanco don't have 10 home runs

See I really like that idea of having someone batting last that can get a rally goin. THE ONLY problem with that is he wont get as many at bats per game/season down there. But like for the sox... we got thome, konerko, dye, crede, aj all right after each other... I think ozzie should put crede, or better yet AJ at the bottom to get some people on base.

HR's we got Konerko 25 crede-21 Iguchi-11 Thome-33 Dye-26 Uribe-13....thats huuuge. 4 players on pace for 40+!! and 2 for 20+.... It just kills me seeing all these friggin 1 run homers as of allstar break!!
