**The MLB Thread**

he made a comment about the sox saying... Speaking of outscoring....then he went on to list how many runs allowed we have vs. how many runs detroit have...when he should have listed how many runs SCORED we have vs. how many runs scored detroit has

and what i was trying to say to him was....what the hell does that stat have to do with outscoring.... (since he listed runs allowed)

what he meant to say is that detroit has the best run differential in the game wheras chicago has only outscored their opponents by 93 runs vs. detroit outscoring opponents by 134 runs. yes detroit hasn't scored as many runs as chicago but they have outscored their opponents by more runs cause they don't give up as many as chicago

So what if the Sox outscored the Tigers over the series, what matters is the wins and losses and Tigers won 2 out of 3 and moving to 5-1/2 games ahead in the division.
If you really want to talk about outscoring then lets look at how many runs the White Sox have given up this year compared to how many runs the Tigers have given up.

Tigers 95 games played and 360 runs allowed.

Sox 94 games played and 449 runs allowed.

Outscoring other teams by 10 one game means nothing when you get beat the next two games. So outscoring a team in a series means jack.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
That's all fine and dandy, but if you are going to post runs allowed, then why don't you go and post runs scored instead of posting "only" what your team does better. I'm sure you'll find the run scored/runs allowed differential is about the same between the two teams.

nope. detroit 134 vs. chicago's 93 and that doesn't include today's 10-3 loss. detroit is 8th in the majors in runs scored, so they aren't terrible offensivly
