SI.com's Jon Heyman says the Yankees aren't optimistic about signing Mark Teixeira, and "seem ready to pounce for Manny Ramirez." He says the Yankees "love the idea of Manny."

Heyman notes that Teixeira signing with the Red Sox would be ideal for Manny and Scott Boras, since Boston is not a possibility for Ramirez. The Angels might have heightened interest in Manny if they are unable to sign Tex

Don't know why the Braves would want to sign him again anyway. Johnson and Escobar are both good infielders IMO. They should shop for a pitcher.

Don't know why the Braves would want to sign him again anyway. Johnson and Escobar are both good infielders IMO. They should shop for a pitcher.

If they signed him it's a big boost to the leadoff spot, and they can then move Johnson to the outfield where they need help big time.

Either that, or they would keep Johnson at 2nd and make another try at Peavy with Escobar+prospects.

With Burnett off the table, there's really not much out there in terms of good starting pitching. They need help in their rotation BIG time- Smoltz, Glavine, Hampton, and Hudson are all gone (Hudson's out for most of next season, if not all last I heard).

I can't see him going anywhere and being in the rotation. He's just too injury prone.

If he's healthy he can still be a good closer.

Even last year he still got in the mid-90's.

Yeah, he would help in the lead-off spot as he has decent speed, but Johnson isn't too bad either. They just don't run him enough. Still no Furcal...
