Does Smoltzy want to close again?
Remember a few years back, he couldn't wait to get out of the bullpen...
he might if he wants to go to a contender.

For whatever reason I thought he came out of the bullpen because the Braves needed a quality starter, which is why they picked up Kolb. (whom didn't turn out to be what the Braves had hoped) I guess you can say there are some positives and negatives of each role...starter and closer. As a closer you pitch less but more often, and as a starter, you pitch more innings, but with several days of rest.Does Smoltzy want to close again?

buerhle was an ace last year and garcia had proven himself in seattle. We just need one other pitcher to come around. Fortunately we got 2, although Garcia hasn't pitched as well as we would have liked.bonderman will be an ace in the future. remember he is only 23. verlander will also be an ace in the future, and robertson has pitched well. he has to be one of the better 4th starters in the league. also maroth was pitching very well before he got injured. detroit has 3 good lefties in their rotation. also the same could've been said about chicago's rotation last year. who would've thought garland, buhrle (sp?), contreras, garcia etc would've been as good? this tigers team reminds me a lot of chicago last year. chicago was a mediocre team before last season. their pitchers were unproven and even cast offs.

Sucks, because he was nuts closing- I wish he had stayed in that role. Now they've gone through Kolb, Farnsworth, Reitsma, and now they're giving Ray a shot at closing.
I'd like to see them move Smoltz. He's one of the best pitchers in this era, but the Braves need to retool. He's still got a ton of value as he's one of the best post-season pitchers of all time. I'm sure the Braves can score some quality prospects for him, to add to the myriad of very talented, young players they have in the organization...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
i've been reading that atlanta doesn't wanna break up the team? i heard rumors about carl crawford getting dealt to detroit. the tigers do lack speed in the lineup and the ability to play small ball, but not sure where you would put him. granderson or ordonez wouldn't be taken out so do you replace monroe and have monroe split dh duties with thames? then i guess detroit could put crawford leadoff and move granderson to the middle of the lineup
dont you Tigers need a lefty power hitter?
:cough: Floyd :cough:
They can't take Thames out of that lineup...he's been on fire- as has Granderson.
I think the D-Rays are asking for everyone and their mother for Crawford, too...
