Need an opinion. I can get a set of projector fog lights and an hid kit for them under 200$ total. Being that i have no fog lights now, would this be more effective than just getting HIDs and putting them in my stock halogen housing?

Yes but that's just the hardware. Bosch mini's are less than $50 and you can easily get a kit for less than $100.

say if i got a 5k bulb, im just wondering if i replace with a 8k bulb will it be brighter? is it the same brightness just diff color?

generally you get the most lumes in the yellow color range. anything abov and below will not have the same amount of output even if the color seems brighter

The Bosch Mini's would need to be weather proofed.

That's why I stay with 4000k.

shield mod, i dont think you can use washers in the fx's

ya i went with 6k and i like the look and the light out put was amazing compared to stock.

Just installed 2 kits from DDMTuning.com, $70 for the 55w kit. I did 6000k in my factory projectors and 3000k in the factory fog lamps. I'll go outside and take a pic or two in a minute. Smallest ballast I have used so far. Only complaint I have about the 6000K kit is that the connector that attaches to the factory plug was backwards.

Looks pretty good, the blue and yellow turns me off though
