The Great 15" Challenge

updates? cant wait.. want to know the real thing!

keep it up guys! never mind those haters!
I asked the same thing a couple days ago, next time read through the last page or so of the thread. YOU = FAIL..... Reading>You

subs are just starting to come in, I have the sundown in,EVO and RD should be in transit, and T3 will be out the door real soon. DC and Cascade will be the last as they are still waiting for parts. Also hopefully next weekend I can get in tough with John as I will be in Green bay and also do test on the AV15.

Nick from FI and I have all ready talked, FI/AA does there own types of testing, which is perfectly respectable.
are these tests going to include meter testing?? if so.. i don't understand why these other companies don't want to participate, especially with FI... so many people just wanna know number on this forum

Because the number they hit has too many variables. Some subs will respond better in certain boxes then others. There for if a companies sub doesnt respond well to my testing boxes, viewers could perceive that as the sub is bad, which would most likely not be the case. They fact is I am not really doing this test to compare one sub to another. I am testing to see how the subs take the power they are rated at and how they perform in different enclosures. People can compare if they want but that is not the main point of this.

so its not a 15" challenge anymore then?

just make a bunch of vids of all testing. if you arent comparing the subs to eachother then no reason to meter or anything.

wow I missed this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif:confused://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Wow Bones you really need to take a good look at what I said this testing was for. The testing is to individually test each sub. Do you really want to see a Sonance go up against a LVL5? Comparing sub to sub is pointless and impossible. You should know that better than most people you have over 7000 posts. I am testing each sub to see how it performs at its rated power, then I will increase power, until I find thermal limits or mechanical limits.

My goals:

See how each sub performs with its rated power in a variety of boxes

See how each sub performs with increased power in a variety of boxes

See how each sub is build, breaks in, and long it lasts

I am only finding thermal/mechanical limits on subs that the companies have given me the thumbs up for btw.

There is a lot more important things then just comparing a sub to a sub and I am out to find out a lot more data then something amateur like that.
