I must say I never heard of John Titor before. So I googled it and have been reading and I've come up with a logical deduction.

If you biggest wonder and fascination is when the world will end, then you have missed the whole point of life. Life is for living, not dying. We don't live in order to be paranoid about what will happen when the world ends. From a Judao-Christian standpoint we live in preparation for our much longer "eternal life" ahead whether it be heaven or hell. Besides, even if the world were to magically end in 2012, who's to say any of us will make it to that point? Life can end in an instant from a number of different circumstances: murder, cancer, car accident, food poisoning, etc. etc. I wouldn't say you must live without the end in mind, its just not wise to live with the end as the focus. Life is too short as it is, its better to live well then waste what little time we have on this earth living poorly.

Believe it or not, Americans are not dumb as one may think. When confronted with the struggle of self sufficiency they will prevail. The problem is transitioning as society breaks down. Many people die. The elderly, people living where they shouldn't be, and a lot of other good people. The people most dependent on others will perish. In the future we are less dependent on oil companies for energy. We use solar, wind, and geo thermal. We are less dependent on the super market for food. We grow our own. We don't need toilet paper. We make our own and use nature.

Surprisingly. The only companies that ride out the transition are in the business of video games. Nintendo and Playstation.
