The extensive musical taste thread.

Ok, here's another one:

This group is pretty straight ambient techno. Their album is one of my favorites so far from 2007. Much easier to like than the last link I posted.

My favorite song isn't on their myspace, so just listen to the song that loads automatically, it is really good. Nocture or Sleepwalk are also great, or whatever else they have up there for an idea, they should all be good.
I like this one more for obvious reasons. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/applause.gif.bb805d8088f72dbc2fe808c29e85fb4c.gif

any of ya listen to bassdrive.com at all they got some good dj's once and awile live
Grizzly, I'm trying hard to pay attention to what you say but I keep finding myself staring at those boots/spaceships in your sig. Anyway, I'll listen to some of the stuff you posted on the last page in a minute.

Apparently //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Hey Hundreth, I liked that YSI, much more in the instrumental parts though. Not sure where you are getting the dark part though, it sounded light enough to me, but then again I listen to some pretty ****ing dark music so my standards are probably out of whack. Wasn't fond of the vocals at all. Otherwise, good.

This is considered House music? See, Trance I know for sure, and apparently House as well, is something I can listen to literally for hours and hours non-stop. I used to listen to the Digitally Imported radio endlessly, when I was on my computer with no music.

One thing I really like about this type of genre is that it seems kind of amorphous. Not sure if that is the right word, but what I mean is that many different artists have quality material, and it doesn't really degrade by going into the more obscure stuff. You can just listen to an endless mix, like the DI radio, and almost none of it is bad. It also means you don't have to spend a ton of time researching and figuring out who sounds like who just to find stuff you like.
I guess dark is relative, but I can see why you would feel it was light. The reason that one became popular and semi-mainstream is because the Trance community discovered that vocal first. The house instrumental with the drums and clever synths is what actually makes the track good. If you were to listen to the trance version of that same track, you would see the great difference between the two genres.

And yea, of course its easier to find quality tracks from a genre that isn't really mainstream. All the producers make the music to make good music, not to sell records. So if you like the style to begin with, its kinda hard to go wrong.

I like the YouTube one you posted a lot more, actually.

About your 2nd paragraph, not exactly what I was meaning to say, but I know what you mean for sure.

well im outa here ill be back tomorrow when i get back here to work. ill plug my all time fav, dj shadow for the sickest best live show for a dj/turntablism/triphop. if u wanna check out one show only of his "in tune and on time" still classic to this day and the dvd is even better to watch. gn

The thing grizzly posted near bottom of page 8 is fairly enjoyable. I like the backing track at least. Not so much into the lead jazz instruments, but the synth lead is cool. Not something I would listen to every day, but enjoyable enough as I listen to it right now.

I also prefer the YouTube more.. try this one: http://download.yousendit.com/76B0295D3DA23568

Very similar to the YouTube... if you like that one it seems to me that you like Tech-House, not so much tribal house. Sub-genres... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

This will probably be my last post for the night, but **** if it isn't the most important thing I've said in this thread:

Here is a link to Jesu's myspace.

Listen to SILVER first, then whatever else. This song was not written by mortal hands, I swear it.

This guy ****ing turned my world upside down last year when I heard his music. It's a mixture of drone metal and shoegaze. Melodic, epic, vast, ponderous, ****ing gorgeous. His EP, Silver, is quite possibly my favorite EP of all time.

Some of you might have heard/heard of Jesu. If not, omg, now is your chance, if you really like this, I officially love you and you have good taste. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You should check these guys if you haven't heard of them yet. Listen to mr. marshall. it changed my life for sure. Btw I'm listening to silver right now.

edit: You may not like how it sounds at first but seriously just wait for the breakdown. The crunch that comes from those guitars, omfg. Amazing.
