I want them to be public though. They should have to carry stickers like organ donors.

Your solution would just lead to killing everyone off.

What we need to do is figure out how to turn a profit on our prisoners. We would eliminate the cost and give convicts work skills that would be useful when they got out.

I'm not saying that the DP is ineffective at cutting crime rates. I'm saying that it's unethical.

So what is ethical? Putting them in prisons, making everyone else support them because they made poor choices? Possibly reintroducing them into society KNOWING what they are capable of?

Alright, I have it.

Big island (as stated above). Put them all on an island. Give them all the tools necessary for civilization (shovels, saws, seeds, livestock, etc). Control the perimeter. Let them fend for themselves, or kill themselves, then you're not the one responsible.

Murder, child molestation, attempted murder, violent **** - the death penalty

Everything else - jail time

Like I said, if you can't handle taking the life of a murderer/******/child molester, that is your own problem. There are plenty of us who will without thinking twice.

"OMGZ, like what if they're not really guilty you're just gonna kill them?!" - You're proven guilty by a jury of your peers, so you'd go to jail anyways, what's next, "We can't lock people up based on juries/judges ruling them guilty unless it's absolutely, 100% proven they are guilty."

Ethics are subjective. My ethics and morals are going to be different then everyone else on heres. Thats part of being human. The difference is that my solutions arent "politically correct." However, i bet we would see an extremely big decrease in crime if we went back to the middle ages way of punishment. Chopping off body parts and branding faces.
