Warm dustcaps are not that big of a deal. If they are hot, you probably have an issue. Everyone above is right about not mixing sub brands/sizes.

I did not buy it brand new I was just told sundown audio sa 12. How can I tell if its a d2 or d4? And the capacitor is now removed.. how do I determine what car batteries and alternator Im going to need?

If you arent going to get a bigger amp I probably wouldnt worry about getting a new alt or extra batteries for the rear.

2 were in box that was sealed in the middle and the other was in a single box because its square... now I think I should sell the infinity and the L3 with a couple extra amps i have and just buy a matching sundown audio sa12. Run both of those off my vvme inno-d1500 2000W.

Yes,That sounds like a good plan.Shouldn't need to upgrade alt and all that for around 1000 watts of clean power.

What other amps do you have? You might have a better choice than the vvme.

I have an alpine 500W monoblock and a pioneer 760W couldn't tell you exact models off the top of my head

No matter what the system I'd suggest Big 3 if you haven't done it already. My rule of thumb- if your voltage gets below 13V on full tilt while idling, you need an upgrade. I'd upgrade front battery first to a good AGM, then a second rear battery, then a HO alt. That's my personal preference, though.
