The coming days install sneak peak

All wiring done, took about 4 hours (2 hours running to back :\, an hour on the firewall alone... such tight fit)

Everythings hooked up except the ground, still waiting for custom BALUN to be made and shipped to me; which'll be about 2 weeks from now. When it comes I just have to hook up the ground and plug in the RCA's and i'll be a happy man again. Took out the JL 300/2 today as well, see classifieds for sale, so I'm without music in the car until the balun gets here :\

Onto the pix

Gonna take out those gloves/shoes etc at a later time, pix shot at night cuz i didnt have my camera during the day

as said before  was the only way to keep ground as short as possible, already thought of other options. Don't really care anyway the trunk is almost never opened anyway

This guys building a custom unit that converts my HU's balanced signal into unbalanced; since Sundown amps are unbalanced

Cliffnotes(quoted from another site)

You have to read up a bit on Balanced and Unbalanced connections.
In a *very* simplified nutshell, what the balanced connection does, is sending the signal on the + wire, and the opposite signal on the - wire (Hot and Cold wires). The amp measures the difference between the two signals, and calculates the actual signal it wants to reproduce.

For example (Remember this is very simplified), if it wants to play "6" it would send "+3" on the hot wire, and "-3" on the cold wire.

The unbalanced connection simply sends the full signal on the +wire, and uses the -wire as a ground reference ("0"), so if the unbalanced connection wanted to play "6", it would just send "+6" on the hot wire, and "0" on the ground wire.

When you interconnect balanced to unbalanced, you're only taking the signal that's coming in through the +wire, so if the source is trying to play "6", the unbalanced amp will think it's trying to play "3", since it only uses the "+3" signal coming through the +wire. You would need to adjust your gain on that channel to compensate (catch up with ) the other channel that's receiving the full balanced signal.

reran the ground, looks a little better now i guess. the RCA in the front is a temp. run while I'm waiting for my balun to get here. I'm running it straight to my ipod right now, gonna get a video up when I get my balun setup (probably a week or so from now) Didn't get to tuning the gain since it started raining as soon as I finished, but here's some new pix

with the gain only at about 1/4, i must say the treo sounds amazing =O!.. maybe because i've been listening to a 3.99 portable radio for the past two weeks

well he gave me a confident "they'll be ready to ship this weekend". So i just hope he keeps his word

yeah i plan on keeping these amps. probably done with car audio after this, at least until I drop the car and get some wheels

(still gotta do chassis to engine ground and alt to batt + [need a inline fuse holder], and a optima YT coming in on friday)

After a month or so, I can finally say that I'm completely done with car audio and not looking forward to spending anymore money (....yeah... I doubt it too) on the system. Two weeks ago I finally got the custom balun, got everything hooked up to my HU, perfect, kept all my steering wheel controls etc whilst looking bone stock.

Ran into some trouble the week after when the Hertz HCX coax's came in, the spacers I had before were 6", 1/2" too small, so I had SPY make me some and send me, that was an extra week or so. So today and yesterday, I was finally able to complete what I hoped to complete a month ago. I sound deadened the trunk lid and rear doors with dynamat extreme, put spacer in, clay around it, and the hertz in.

Final system:

Sundown SAZ 1500 (Sub)

Sundown SAX 100.4 (Front, bridged! 320 x 2!)

Sundown SAX 100.2 (Rears)

Hertz HSK165 Components (Front)

Hertz HCX165 Coaxials (Rear)

15" Treo SSI Dual 4, wired to 2 ohm

Dynamat extreme on all doors + trunk lid, 2-3 layers

Custom Amp bypass + balun

Dice R4 Ipod integration w/ text rigged to show on my navi screen

Sorry for the shitty video, I forgot to bring my camera since I was doing this all at my xxSuperAdamxx's house, but it is on my stupid camera phone. Just a little somethin for now I guess

edit: wouldn't let me embed the videos!
