The Big 3/4?

Will be doing the Big three on a 98 chevy truck, but with dual battery set up,in which will actually be the big 4 I guess.Question I have is that on this vehicle, from the starting battery, there is a 10 ga wire coming off of the poss connection that runs clearly across the front of the fan guard that connects to the Fuse panel under the hood.Should this be upgraded as well with the 0ga, or with at a minimum of 4ga, or should it be left alone? This truck has a dual battery compartment, and I have been running 2 redtops, with the stereo connection coming off of the secondary battery, and will be all connected with the 0ga, but Im wondering if that wire should be as well, or just leave it alone, or upgrade to at least 4ga?It supplies the Fuse panel under the hood.Any info will be greatly appreciated Thank you.

Leave it alone. that wire supplies all factory equipment besides your deck(but that doesnt matter) so you dont need to upgrade it. the point of the big three is to get resistance off of your alternator wiring and deliver more power to your amps, not more to your stock electrical(i.e. cabin lights ect.)

I also had a '98 Silverado.

The stock batt position was on the passenger side, I relocated it to the drivers side using a distro-block and ran power/ground to a toolbox in the bed for a 3-Deka 9a31 batt bank. I also had my sub amp(s) in this toolbox. (at one point 2 IA20.1, later a DD Z2hv)

If you plan to use the 2 battery locations under the hood, I would recommend doing the normal big-3 on the stock batt location battery. Then run pos 4ga/0ga to the secondary batt on the drivers side. Also, ground the drivers side batt to the frame and block.

Sounds good.I was curious, as to do the min of 4ga to it, as it also comes from the supply, and feeds that panel also/figured it was too small as well.So I will continue to do my dual battery set up, and add my K-600 as well, and disregard that particular wire then.I appreciate all of everyones input, and quick response.I thank you.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif

I did have the 4ga set up, for my 255amp alt, as this was told for me to do when i bought the alt, and never hearing about the big three until i became a member on here with a larger ga-being 0ga.I have existing 2ga to supply my amps.I wasnt even running a 3rd battery at the time, and recently came across a Kinetick 600 with wiring/ect.I was using 4-old school USA US Acoustics 2150s on each old school USA Cali Made 1000rms Audiobahn AW1008t DVC2ohm subs(Discontinued), and 2-2100, and had no issues. My truck was stolen, and I only had 2 subs left, and 2-2150s, and my kq9 Kicker. So now After the recovery here, I am upgrading back to old school amps, and found 2 brand new subs, giving me another 4,and running 2-HF Cyclops VIII for each set @2ohms,and either a VulcanVII,orVIII, orGemini VII,along with PlutoVIII,or VII.So Im thinking I will be fine with keeping the 2ga supply to the amps, rather than changing to 0ga as well?If I need to change it, can someone let me know?I thank you,Yet Im not going to be drawing that much, and I will be @2ohms bridged this time instead of 1ohms, and 2ohm stereo also.Pretty much done with the 1ohm scene.LOL..So 2ga will be fine? Thanks for any input

I appreciate the help from everyone.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Thanks guys
