Yo guys a friend of mine got an Ed sub the 12O.44. It s specs are rms-500W peak - 1000w. HE ASKED WHICH AMP WOULD PUSH THE SUB GOOD. So I need a mono class D amp that puts out around 500W- 600W . And if possible he would like one with a remote gain controller.

why not use the tsunami db 1100 amp. If you wire the sub into 2ohms you get 650 watts. The sub should handle that much power if you careful with gains. Also it is 1 ohm stable so if you get another in the future you can hook both of them up for 1100 watts. It like 235 + shipping at ed's site. I think it is worth the little extra for thinking ahead.

dude the ED web site says $260 + shipping

and i really dont want to give the sub more than 600W. 500 w-550W would be perfect. the Tsunami Amps from what i hear is underrated and would put out more than 650W.I really dont want to be the reason for blowing his first sub.

They are now 235. If you go to the checkout, it would show the new price. Ben said it on the Sound illusions forum that he is trying to get rid of them to make space for the new avionixx amps. You can control the amount of power the sub sees. I have 2 300 watt rms subs and I am using the tsunami amp at 2ohm and it is running just fine. I hear ya if you don't want to blow your friend sub though.

They only other amp that comes to mind is the AXA 440.4 amplifier. It's from avionixx, it rated at 4 x 85 at 4 ohm or 2 x 220 rms at 4ohms with 12.5volts so at the normal car operation you should see about 14 volts so it should be at or above 500 Watts. 205 + shipping

Your could wire 2 channels to each voice coil for the 2 x 220 watts

id go wiht a jbl 600.1 although thatd be giving it like 650 watts or so. The memphis would do good. Just look for anything u can find that does 500 watts at 2 ohms.
