i can pretty much agree from a stand point that i have seen from proffesional architectswhat discipline of architecture? Landscape = a joke. Might as well be a gardener.
I will say with confidence a good 87% of "architects" are know nothing douchebags and/or flaming ****'s with a major chip on their shoulder. Please don't become another. However, BIG +1 to the abundance of hawt bishes that work at arch firms :O
Most are beauticians -- meaning NOTHING is buildable...it just looks good on paper. I have to make those buildings buildable as a civil designer/engineer (working with the structural eng. the "architect" just gets in the way and *****es about cost //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif )
They design space layouts, window placements & decide what material to use on counter tops...it's BS. No job security what so ever. Arch Firms will stick to one job for a year then lay everyone off after it's built because they have nothing lined up for the future.
If you like designing buildings and want to be part of major projects...go for structural engineering. Seriously.

shoot me your card after you get your A.A., i'll be sure to keep you on file when I need help deciding which plants to put in front of my buildings.
Mu Uncle does somthing like that for the city of Richmond, VA. Whenever construction is underway, he is responsible for doing a walkthrough, making sure all the equipment and material is built to spec, complies with saftey standards, complies with the original design, etc. Makes about 160K/year. Sounds like a good job to me. Does this for all goverment and city funded projects. When you say job security, are you meaning the actual construction workers, or yourself included?what discipline of architecture? Landscape = a joke. Might as well be a gardener.
